Title: WA state medicaid coverage and changing insurance after applying for GRS
Post by: Hermosa_Tabby on February 19, 2016, 03:46:02 PM
Kinda holding my breath for maybe an expert here, but I am wondering if I get approval for GRS (im currently on medicaid) and the waiting list is like 3 years out, if I change to being on say medicare, will that make them no longer cover my surgery anymore?

Medicare supposedly was supposed to cover it but they aren't and the local surgeons are no longer even dealing with medicare from a bad deal that went down where they did GRS and then medicare did not pay for it.

If Medicaid covers you in your state just stay with them don't change if you can help it because If you change to Medicare it probably won't cover you, you will have papers or your insurance card or somewhere you will have the dates you're covered from and to, you can get pre approved on your current insurance, but if you change then whichever insurance is valid is the one responsible Hun. I managed a healthcare providers office and also dealt with the insurance department closely. But this was a few years ago, so do verify my info if possible.

Medicare is primary so by default you would have to deal with there hoops before medicaid. So it could affect your GRS because then you need someone to except medicare. Hugs
