"Eating disorders have historically been associated with young, white women of privilege. However, this is a myth—eating disorders do not discriminate. While more research is needed in this area, we do know that the prevalence of eating disorders is similar among Non-Hispanic Whites, Hispanics, African-Americans, and Asians in the United States, with the exception that anorexia nervosa is more common among Non-Hispanic Whites.

My only eating disorder has been a huge appetite. I was lucky to have a fairly fast metabolism and a pretty active lifestyle or I might have eaten myself into some big problems.

I was anorexic when I was 20 and a little bit earlier as a sophomore in High school but overcame the problem when I was about 25. Now I just can't lose the weight I need to because of HRT I think.
Interesting article.
My eating disorder was 100% tied to being trans. I still have a lot of body image issues and anxieties around weight even though I'm transitioned and my body looks wonderful and feminine. I don't know if it's a habit, coping mechanism, or aspect of my personality. Fortunately the unhealthy behaviors largely subsided decades ago, long before my transition, when I learned how unhealthy they were and how to live with my feelings about my body.
I have been overweight most of my life and have episodes of bulimia. So much so that I have actually destroyed a couple of my back teeth and had to have them removed. I'm finally losing weight, because of steroids to strengthen my lungs I went diabetic and have since begun a protein only diet, no carbs or sugars. Pounds are peeling off.
