Title: Back in Argentina at the end of this month
Post by: charlotte15 on March 06, 2016, 10:01:32 PM
Hey

Long time no see. I'm going back to Argentina at the end of this months for fixes with Dr DiMaggio, but also a big thing: jaw reduction and facelift for the face and neck.

I am getting nervous again but different kind of nervous. More like afraid.

If anyone is in Buenos Aires, message me so we can have a tea in this wonderful city!

Hi! That's exciting news but I understand the jitters. I'm a little over 3 months post op with MDM, I'm pretty happy aside from the continued numbness everywhere but can see myself going back in a year for little fixes, we'll see. I heard Claudia is no longer there, she had to move because her husband got a job somewhere else so I'm wondering what he's doing about that. She was really good to me when I was there. Feel free to ask questions. -Allie

Where do you have numbness? My lip is improving very slowly. What fixes do you want to be done?

Wishing you satisfaction in corrections or new surgeries. Doctors are not as perfect as they think. What I do not like in my frontoplasty will repair in the future. I do not feel ready now. Good luck, girls.

Thanks Jhuly and Jannicke!!

By the way Jannicke I notice you are going back too. Can I ask for what? I thought you already had the facelift done with all the procedures the first time??

Best to you and keep us posted!
Cheers! ;D

Hi Charlotte,

I'm 100% numb on top of head, my ears are just starting to regain feeling, maybe 70% numb, the right side of my forehead, just above my eyebrow is still 100% numb, 60% numb in front of my ears and down to my jaw line.

Id like to have a slight brow lift, my eyes and brows are drooping towards the outer edges. The tip of my nose is still a bit bulbous, I can live with it and don't really want to get into micro correcting my nose, but if I was going back it would be a consideration. I'd like to have a more permanent solution to lip filler, he didn't want to do fat transfer, he gave me restylane injections.

So far so good with everything else, incisions are amazing, most people have no idea I've had such extensive surgery.

I hope you're doing well and wish you the best on your revisions :)

Hey Charlotte,

Just wanted to wish you a good trip to Buenos Aires. No need to be nervous or afraid. You got this! You made my trip there last year so much better :) I wish I was going out there at the same time as you but my revisions are all the way in August :( You're going to look even more wonderful, I'm so happy for you.

Your (and others) reports of extensive pan-facial numbness in multiple areas -   at now more than 3 months after surgery - -  is really worrisome.

From other reports from FFS surgeries performed by experienced surgeons in the US,  that type of extensive long-term facial numbness is really rare and unusual.

There are only so many nerve bundles that go to different parts of the face.  Aren't surgeons supposed to avoid damaging or cutting those as part of careful surgery?   Is there really ANY reason for that many nerve bundles to be cut or damaged and not recovered after  three + months ?

Sure, I suppose that in some individual cases - - that is going to happen or be required as part of the surgery.  But the number and extensive level of numbness being reported is disconcerting.

Please keep us posted as time goes by about how long it takes for the numbness to go away!

I wouldn't consider 3 months "long term" in the process of FFS recovery which may take 12 months or more. Also to be honest I've read many reports of numbness from people operated by experienced surgeons in the US as well. Numbness is the first thing they mention when you ask them how they are doing.

Did DiMaggio perform jaw and chin contouring during your original surgery?  If so was it not extensive enough?  If he did not, do you avoid it for a specific reason?

He did not, I was uncertain about the jaw so I might as well keep it I though.
But turns out I didn't like the result - it was out of proportion with the rest.

So this time he did it, also fixing frontal defects. I will wait until healed to make a post about my experience. Still recovering.
