Title: Wearing glasses after rhinoplasty
Post by: blossom on March 13, 2016, 04:00:26 PM
What has been people's experience with this? Some places say to tape your glasses to your forehead. I guess you would do that will clear medical tape, but has anyone done that?

Dr. Meltzer said he would give my nose a cast so I could wear glasses.

What have you done or what would you do in this situation?

The cast is part of the healing process; it's very bulky though, so I don't know how well your glasses would stay on. I didn't wear glasses when I had my nose done, but sunglasses were painful for a couple of months after the surgery.

I have a very high prescription for my eyes and I might not be able to get 24-hour contacts.

You might find contacts uncomfortable to wear for a while after surgery because the black and blue can get around. I think I used medical tape for a while but because I mostly need them for driving, but I went without glasses as much as possible. In those days my glasses were - well - glass with a heavy prescription and when I could use my nose again, I had problems with them sliding down my nose because the bump I used in the past was gone. Plastic lens have pretty well solve that problem.

I had no problem to wear my glasses over the nose cast after my rhinoplasty. They weren't very thick though.

I called Dr. Meltzer's office and he said he gives a nose cast after the splints are out that I can wear glasses with. Then after six weeks the nose cast comes off and I can wear glasses on my nose again.
