Title: Brand vs. Generic Testosterone Cypionate?
Post by: Dar on March 14, 2016, 08:46:03 PM
Hey,

I just realized that there are two variants of testosterone cypionate: brand and generic one. http://www.goodrx.com/depo-testosterone/savings-tips?form=vial&dosage=1ml-of-200mg-ml&quantity=2&days_supply=&label_override=Depo-Testosterone

Do you know what the difference is exactly, except that the brand version is tripled in price?

Just the price is different. It's made with the same stuff. That goes for all generic vs name brand. Some insurance companies will only cover the generic unless a generic is not available. I have a whole piece of paper from my insurance company that says brand names and their covered generics.

Like Alex said, it's the same thing just one is brand name and the other is generic. It's like getting Tylenol vs. CVS-brand acetaminophen. Or Fruit Loops vs. grocery store brand Fruit O's.

Most people who get brand name prescriptions I have noticed have some kind of provision for it in their health insurance. I have a friend who uses gel and his insurance will pay for it, but only if it is Axiron. I'd imagine somebody out there has insurance that springs for Depo because of some manufacturer agreement.

OK. Thanks.

More expensive staff is usually perceived as "better," but this is probably not necessarily the case here.

Not with medicine. A generic bag of potato chips usually are from a brand name that get a little extra smushed on the conveyor belt but they are the same chips.

I worked in a pharmacy for 3 years. It's exactly the same.
