Hi ,
I noticed the structure of testosterone brands and corticosteroids are the same
We know corticosteroids have many side effects like osteoporosis (for long-term uses) , edema , etc
Does HRT have these bad side effects too ?
I heard HRT for menopausal adults can prevent osteoporosis , but what I studied about corticosteroids is different

i don't think they do. they're very similar and related. though they're different.
cortisol (C) and testosterone (T) work hand in hand with one another. if your T level is high, C have to be much lower, they can't both be high at the same time. for example, if you're stressful, your C level will be high and your body automatically decreases T level to make it balance.
so you're on HRT, you won't suffer all the cortisol effects.
Probably something to discuss with a doctor who would be prescribing and monitoring the HRT. I don't recall osteoporosis or edema on my list of potential long term side effects.
I asked my question from a hip and knee surgeon and he said testosterone even with low doses may cause Avascular necrosis (AVN) of the femoral head
Have you ever heard sth like that ?

Well we are talking about bioidentical testosterone.
Its a substance present in males and females naturally, in various degrees.
Well it simply has a lot of effects.
Via the glands there is a feedback mechanism which dives down estrogen production when testo reaches certain levels.
exact levels are different from person to person.
There are sub-substances produced through various effects, and it has quite a few effects throughout the body.
On facial hair growth ... lowering of voice ... helping with muscle growth ... etc.
Looking at small specific effects imo is not really productive.
Its simply like a framework, with many effects.
If there are specific symptoms connected with testo many men are supposed to have it.
corticosteroids
Well .. bio-identical ? What are the substances produced from it ? Etc ...
Small differences can have a big result ....
Basically HRT helps maintain a dominance of either estrogen or testosterone which is supposed to help with bone density.
Going for longer times without a dominant hormone might not be healthy.
There are reports from castrates a long time ago who lived healthy to a high age though.
Its possible they made some amends with diet, eating what their body craved.
*hugs*
They aren't the same; in fact, they have opposite effects. Testosterone is an anabolic steroid, which means that it builds up tissue (think muscle gain here). Corticosteroids are catabolic, which means that they break tissue down and release energy. This is why corticosteroids work as anti-inflammatory agents, and it's also why they are hazardous when used long-term -- they do things like weaken bone, which is why osteoporosis is a risk when taking them.
