SO HAPPY! In one of our class assignment posts for a class we're both taking my mom posted her response, and mentioned me as her son! Male pronouns and everything! It was a discussion on gender, society and power. We are discussing Foucalt and his take on how how power is very fluid and easily transferable to certain parties. We read stuff about trans kids being accepted by their families and about some trans kids being restricted from expressing themselves.
I was really happy and almost cried when she wrote her piece. She talked about when I was growing up with Asperger's syndrome and how I came out a couple years ago. She only used my old name a couple times, and she basically stated how she was proud of what I've become. She may have over exaggerated a few things about my personality, but you know parents lol She was right in her post; I WOULD be embarrassed by what she would post. I was really grateful, all the same though. She's awesome :)
That's great. It shows she loves, respects, supports and accepts you. I know I was pretty happy when my mother introduced to me two of her friends as her daughter.
That's great! I'm very happy for you! My mom's always been accepting of me and my transition, but it was only recently that she's felt comfortable enough to use proper pronouns in public. It's something that you can't really grasp how important it is until you get to experience it for yourself. So, congratulations! Welcome to the "you have a cool mom" club! ;D
That's fantastic, Kyle!! :D So, so happy for you, man! This is how it should be. I envy you, dude. ;D My parents will never accept me as their son. Lol.
Congratulations :)
*hugs*
