So how accurate do you think this is? I copy and paste what I've typed here into it and I don't quite understand the way they caluclate it. Most of the time it tells me I'm "Weak Male" and that weak emphasis could indicate European. That first one was the informal. The formal category says weak female and the same thing about emphasis indicates European.
Can anyone help me interpret?
Do you think this is just a toy or is it to be taken seriously.
Please try it and discuss what you think.
I think it depends a lot on education for the formal ratings as there are particular ways to write formally independent of who you are. There may be something to it for informal writing.
Here is my rating for a long post I made here Sat night. I'm assuming that's an informal writing style.
Genre: Informal
Female = 1420
Male = 1208
Difference = -212; 45.96%
Verdict: Weak FEMALE
Weak emphasis could indicate European.

Just poked in an old piece of creative writing and got these results:

Sounds about right :P
Huh. Here's mine, from a piece of travel writing I did a few years ago:
Genre: Informal

Difference = 648; 78.92%

Well, yeah.
Actually, this is sort of interesting. Just to see what would happen, I plugged in something I wrote in the voice of my old dog -- a large, female gun dog. "My Summer Vacation," by Bailey Ann Pointer. Here are the results.
Genre: Informal
Female = 724
Male = 822
Difference = 98; 53.16%
Verdict: Weak MALE
Weak emphasis could indicate European.

I don't really write formally for anything, so I can't test that side too easily. I'm fine with being an informal woman though. I'm far too casual for that mess. :laugh:

I'm not sure I know what formal writing even is. I haven't written an essay since highschool, and don't think I'll go to college. I'm only looking for skilled trade work.
I think it is just a game, like an online quiz. I put two different samples of writing (both written by me) and got two different answers.

Yes. I have done the same with this.

Me too, though I found the fact that I was glad that one of them showed as female is the most instructive part.
