Hi everyone, happy Transgender Day of Visibility! :)
Quick question! Over the March Break I was invited to an indoor pool and was caught off-guard! I'm going to experience a lot of firsts this year, and figuring out what to wear in a pool with the kids led to frustration. I bought a pair of guy's trunks at WalMart, but had to resort to a bikini top from my closet.
What are your favourite beach/swimming solutions? Sport bra and tank top? Or is there something better I'm not thinking of right now? Let's chat. :)

This is a major issue for me recently, I have pretty bad chest dysphoria. I used to use the same solution you did, with trunks and a bikini top, but it's no good now it's too uncomfortable. I've not found anything that works yet, but since I am not large-chested, I'm considering trying a tankini top (not the ones with cups of course, just the plain flat fabric ones) or possibly trying to fashion something from the top half of a women's one piece swimming costume. No idea how well these ideas will work though!
I tend to wear a women's one piece under guys trunks. I want to get a swim binder but can't justify the cost.

I've always had a deep hatred for the one piece things - and peeing is at the top of the list. :P There might be a lighter "water-shirt" to wear over...whatever...that won't be as heavy when wet. It's the underneath part. I've hand-sewn the cups almost to flat in a sports bra, and it helps, but I don't know how it'll hold up in a pool or lake, and I might have to try it privately first. LOL!
Just looked up the cost of swim binder.
:o
*cough choke* Yeah, I don't THINK so!!
I wonder if a scuba vest would be effective? I've never been diving and have no experience, but that was my next thought. I'm large enough that I can only hope to downplay as opposed to disappear on this one. ::)

Same boat man! I was really hoping to get top surgery before summer but can't afford it. Last summer I just wore a shirt over a sports bra because I don't have a swim suit other than trunks.
I plan on getting a swim binder because we plan on going to my friends lake house and doing jet skis and we will hopefully finally go cliff diving together this summer and can't do the binder or shirt with all of that

Jet skiing and cliff diving!! Wow!! That sounds so cool. I've never done either of those things. (My feet were too small for the jet ski boots that one time. D'oh!) But I can see your problem, definitely, a t-shirt just won't be feasible. If you do get a swim binder, I hope you'll keep us posted? :)

I've never gone either so I'm excited. His parents just got the lake house so we're pretty excited for the lake. We were supposed to go cliff diving last summer but that was such a crappy summer for the both of us. God that summer sucked!
I'll definitely let you guys know how I like it! I'm really curious as to if it goes under something or not

I have a friend who found a solution! Better for you all in the US than up here in Canada. (As per usual. LOL!) She sent me an article, which has links for summer swimsuit solutions!

I ended up finding a sport bikini top on Amazon in Canada. But I wanted to point out that Outplay has low and high compression options! Once I did the money conversion plus international shipping, it was out of my price range, but some of you might like them! :)

I wear a loose heavy tee shirt that floats loosely under water.
When i get out of the pool i pull it off the boobs quick.
I swim as a male androgyne.
Dysphoria sucks, so I just saved up and bought a swim binder. Cost was horrid but it was worth it compared to a crappy female bathing suit. I still wear a baggy shirt over the binder and some guy gym shorts.
Before I could get a binder though, I wore an odd tankini top thing with the same shirt/shorts idea I still do.
My main problem/concern is that some public pools had certain clothes that weren't allowed (one actually had a no t-shirt rule for whatever reason).
Being a mtf and having boobs since I was 13yrs old stopped me from taking my shirt off in public for when I do go shirtless i'm told to put a shirt on for no one wants to see a guy with books..Been wanting to wear a one piece bathing suit for yrs.but am stuck in shorts and t's.
I hope nobody minds that I'm bumping this topic, but it's that time of year again and I really don't want to go back to using my old women's swimsuit...
But I also don't want to spend a lot of money.
Any advice for a cheapskate? I'm thinking of getting some trunks at a thrift store and just wearing them with a sports bra. Is that something people can do?
Trunks and sports bra is your best bet. I don't even go to the pool since that require being in the sun and I get sunburnt easily. (Insert vampire joke here).
