Title: eyebrows, pluck underneath or above?
Post by: crystalwishes on April 02, 2016, 12:03:39 PM
HELP!!!
I'm wrecking my eyebrows I'm MTF and my eye ridges are very male. I'm trying to feminize them but I'm not sure which way to thin out my brows.

Do I pluck underneath, thus possibly making my eyebrows look higher on my forehead. OR do I pluck only above, lowering my brow line?

You may need the opinion of your beauty shop on this. Most likely you would want to pluck the underside but if the eyebrows are high near your nose, the top may need to be plucked instead of the bottom. I had mine shaped with electrolysis so the hair was removed were needed.

You should always go underneath.

Further to that, the best shape for you depends on your face shape.

My opinion: It's worth the $10 + $2 tip to have it done by a pro. You can then maintain it for a while, just by plucking the random hairs that return "outside the femme shape."

NEVER ABOVE, ALWAYS BELOW. If you're gonna pluck above, let a professional do it for you :) :) I love going to places that have Middle Eastern/Indian workers who specialise in facial hair removal, where I live, THEY'RE EVERYWHERE. They always have amazing eyebrows so they know exactly what they're doing. The first time I got my eyebrows done I talked with the beautician about what was best. I had very thick eyebrows so she started me off with waxing. Then every two or so weeks when the hair grew back she would thread them, it hurts the first time (but 'beauty is pain') but every time after that you get use to it. It's worth paying the money to get them professionally done and threading gives the most 'on-fleek' look! Good luck and I hope this helped in some way. Alofa Atu <3

As far as I know always under is the rule but definitely second the threading recommendation. If I'm more than 3 weeks between threading I feel like a unibrowed monster.

There's no way I could do anywhere near as good a job as Lorraine on my brows for shaping let alone tinting brows and lashes (Oh god how I love tinted lashes).
She's dearer than some but she's amazing and leaves me feeling fantastic when I look at my eyes.

Find yourself a good beautician and if you click you'll have found a wonderful treasure.

I would recommend eyebrow threading:)
I personally just plunk my own underneath and sometimes a little bit above at the ends to even them out:) hope that helps:) a woman's beauty work is never complete... It's a lifelong job:)

I'm not an expert in the field of brows, but my take is limited to how far I am inspecting females in general in my area, look at how the shape is, and kind of go from there.
My picture is outdated, and well not really resembling but still resembling my own.
Figuratively speaking I've seen every brow under the sun. The range of brows varies greatly from person to person, some with a very pronounced arch, thin with a slight arch, thick with a moderate arch or even pure bush. I myself have not gone so far as to purely feminize my brow, but to what I can by sort of giving my brows a more defined arch by going by the bottom toward when they curve/taper out, to provide where I am comfortable, I may try and go from the top where its closer to the bridge of my nose to thin that part and give more definition toward the arch, but I have not attempted that as of yet.

There is no right brow, but a professional would be able to help you out to start your own course of beating around the bush (sorry just had to say it). But if it may be all under, or even over, or some under and over, for you to shape your personal look, to what you would consider for yourself. Then by all means give that a whirl.
Maybe you could get a feel perhaps if you are PhotoShop literate you could take a photo then toy around with the shape of the brow, of thinking from the bottom and or top to get a general idea, or just getting a professional in on the matter.

I pluck mostly the underside to make them appear higher. But I clean up the top too. I have VERY thick brows!

While it's generally true one should never remove from the top I had to.  I had a very pronounced angle or kink at the edges that needed to be smoothed out.  As in all thing feminine, curves are very important.  My electrologist permanently solved the problem for me.

I had my brows threaded and they removed from the top. You have to if you need a clean edge
