I had surgery with Dr. Haben almost a month ago. I only had the glottoplasty. I know that Yeson has exercises they make their glottoplasty patients do at some point during recovery. Would it be beneficial for me to do those during my recovery? Is there a reason why Dr. Haben doesn't recommend any exercises while recovering?
I am sure you saw all of the information on Dr Haben's web site including the part where a voice is half surgery and half therapy. With therapy you can target the issues you have. In addition, if your voice is functional, you can start using it long before a Yeson voice. Yeson also uses Botox which paralyzes the voice and the exercises may help deal with some of the issues caused by the botox.
It really hard to argue the pros and cons because while the surgery accomplishes the same thing, the approaches are greatly different. Taking something one doctor does and applying it to the other surgery may not provide any benefit.
I've uploaded a copy to imgur (if not ok, please delete, mods)- the lessons seem like they'd be harmless, and are look like good warmup exercises to me. I know I did a few of them in the past as I read about them in a different voice book (the forward speaking ones anyway).

Thanks for posting those! Those look a lot like the exercises my voice teachers had me doing when I was trying to train my voice, except maybe optimized for a higher pitch. I think I'm gonna wait until it's been at least two months since my surgery before I try anything like that. It seems like those might be better in my case for getting to know my new voice than for helping me heal.
:) I'm sure the forward speaking / forward voice ones are safe any time albeit not 5x a day early on I'm sure. It's just good practice to speak that way. Glad they appear to be of eventual use!
