Title: Tria 4x, and Braun Silk-epil 9, my experiences so far.

Hey all!  *hugs*

I've been working on ridding myself of manfur. I had thought that I would just do it closer to when I go full time, but I'm actually feeling more dysphoric about some parts of my body now that I'm actually having some changes (if that makes sense).

Anyhow.. I did some research and picked up a tria 4x, as well as a Braun silk-epil9 kit.  I figure if I can reduce as much of it as I can at home, it will be less visits in the end to electrolysis.

My facial hair is mostly dark, and the Tria is already making differences. I am noticing that (understandably) it has little effect on the more redish hairs. These will probably have to be zapped.  It's not too painful, less than I expected, but I do keep it on setting 2 or 3. Any more than that and I get the impulse to throw it through a window.   I have used it a bit on my chest as well, up to power 5, and it seems to be doing a decent job there too. (I used some Veet on my chest/belly a while back.. it worked well, but irritated  my skin and smelled bad, so that's out.)

My Silk arrived last week, and I couldn't wait to try it out. If anyone here follows my tumblr (http://andielikeslife.tumblr.com), they may notice I've named it my "DemonMachine"  First run hurt like hell, but had amazing results. I did one lower leg, and it is baby-smooth and soft. I then learned about lidocane cream, and I'm treating both legs as I write this. Hopefully it will make things easier. I slathered it on and wrapped my legs in plastic wrap. After the next episode of Trueblood (letting it set for an hour or so), I'll clean it off and get to work. Ill update here after.

Some other things I came across which is supposed to help is to make sure to moisturize... I use some Aveeno pretty much everywhere before bed. The theory is that it makes the skin more pliable and flexible, yielding the hairs better to the DemonMachine.

Update: Yeah.. so maybe the lidocane cream I got was missing the actual lidocane... or it didnt have the effect I was hoping for.  Either way, legs are smooth and I am cranky. Ouch.
