Title: Pre HRT Blood test results, advice?
Post by: Jestwacked on April 19, 2016, 11:37:28 AM
For moderators and people who commented on the last topic, I removed it due to being in the wrong section and not stating it was pre HRT, this isn't a duplicate post.   ;)

Got my blood test result back today, the doctor said all the routine tests such as liver, diabetes, choloestorl were absolutely normal, here is the results for the hormones, they said it was all normal, but i have no idea what these numbers mean (don't worry I am getting the levels looked at by a Gender specialist). Any idea's if these are good or bad or what  ;D

Serum Testosterone - (BH) - 2.     7.9 nmoI/L        0.50 -2.80 nmol/L
Satisfactory - no action required

Serum total HCH level - (BH) - 1. Normal         <5 iu/L            <5.00 iu/L
No action required

Serum LH level - (BH) - 1. Normal         2.3 iu/L
No action required

Serum FSH level - (BH) - 1. Normal       0.6 iu/L
No action required.

Also the doctor has asked me to come in tomorrow, saying there is ''nothing'' to worry about, but they mentioned about the testosterone and the fact they think im taking supplements? (Which I am not). The testosterone according to internet charts seems to be pretty low?

I  am not sure what your doctor is talking about but I had to do a unit conversion to get numbers I was comfortable with. I came up with 227 ng/dl and a male range of 270-1100 which would put you below the normal male range. The female range would be 6-84 off  this chart. (http://www.hemingways.org/GIDinfo/hrt_ref.htm) What the supplements are about, I don't have a clue unless the doctor thought were taking T in order to have near normal levels.

In the future, if you make a post in the wrong forum, let a moderator know and we will be happy to move it for you. We often find threads in the wrong area and relocate them to the correct area. It takes us less than a minute to do the move and about another minute to document it.

Yeah I am quite below the normal range. I have no idea what the doctor wants, but since I am pre MtF they have said on the results no action required, and him putting me on T supplements when I am about to begin HRT would be the reverse of what I want / need and I would down right refuse any T supplement.

I suppose in a way that it's good my T is naturally low since I am going to go under HRT?

You can look up reference ranges for lots of blood tests here

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reference_ranges_for_blood_tests

Low T is a symptom of liver problems, but since that's been tested presumably its ok. Perhaps its a symptom of something else?

Please for the love of God read the OP.

Yes I understand low T can be an issue but all other tests are normal, and I would appreciate it, if someone who has no medical training didn't tell me that it's a symptom of something else and making me worry.

This question is relating to HRT treatment, i didn't ask your medical opinion.

Firstly, don't be rude to people who respond to your posts.

Secondly the data you posted appears to be normal except for a slight low T.

Thirdly, You have not defined what your question is.

I'm not being rude, telling people they might have this or a symptom of that is not constructive and only contributes to anxiety.

Thanks for answering the question  ;D
