Title: First Shot
Post by: Jonathan L on April 20, 2016, 12:35:50 AM
I gave myself my first shot of testosterone today! I was really nervous about injecting myself because the last time I had to stab myself (for arthritis meds) it took me three hours to work up the courage, lol. I guess that practice paid off though because I did this one with no problem. Can't believe I'm actually doing this!

I just gave myself my first shot back on Saturday! It's quite a thrill. And congrats! That first one sure isn't easy!

Congrats! Once you get into a routine, it's a quick little process. It took me hours the first few times too, now it's down to under 5 minutes to get everything together and stick myself.

Hours?! Now I don't feel so bad about my 20 minutes of "oh god I can't do it."

The worst it ever got was 4 hours, but I had a looooot of stressful stuff going on at the time. I think 20-30 minutes is about right for the first few times you do it as you get used to everything and it becomes less of an unknown thing and more of a regular occurrence.

Congrats! It gets pretty easy after a few months. Make sure you don't inject in the same spot

I got my first shot five days ago and I'm still buzzing about it! I was super nervous as well but I think getting it over with and realizing it didn't hurt as much as I thought will make the next ones easier :)

Congrats!

After about 4 years I still get sweaty palms. Used to take me the entire day to psych myself up to do it. Now I whine a little but the whole process is done in 5 minutes and I laugh at myself for still being a big chicken.

Yes, that really does help. I kept expecting it to be way more painful than it is and I've had some really painful shots. So now I know this is a piece of cake in comparison. I also numb the area with an icepack so I feel it even less.

Congrats on the self-injection! It gets much easier for most people, especially once they figure out what kind of routine works best for them.
