Title: Hi
Post by: VivianB on April 23, 2016, 12:33:41 AM
Hi

First of all I am not sure where to start. I wouldn't exactly call myself new here. I have been coming to the site for a long time but I have rarely looked at the forums. I decided to join so I can make new friends and maybe get advice.

About myself
I am 30 years old,  I have always wanted to be a girl since I was a child. My step sister used to dress me up and I loved it. I used pray and wish I could wake up in a girls body. I used to dress up as a girl for Halloween but my family made me stop. I have not Cross dressed since my teens mainly due to family. When I was around 14 to 16 I started learning more and more about transgender and realized I may be trans. I have been wanting to transition but there times where I try to push down my feelings. I really want to transition but I am kind of scared to.

Welcome to Susan's Place. You have reason to be scared because even today it involved much work and things don't always go as planed. It's possible to transition and have everybody stay with you. I was lucky my family stayed with me even though they weren't cheer leaders. It would have been far more complex had I married but I remained single because I was aware of the problems it would cause. Feel free to ask any questions you might have and we will do our best to answer them.

We issue to all new members the following links so you will best be able to use the web site.

VivianB,

Hi. Welcome to Susan's. There are a lot of people here who knew from an early age. I was either a little dense or in deep denial, it took me till I was 50 to come to grips with that. Hope you meet some great members, we have a lot of them, as you must have seen.

Hope to continue to see you around.

With warmth,

Joanna

Thank you. I'm not scared because I believe myself to be transgender, the reason I'm scared and is because I have a few siblings who are major trans-phobes.

This is a resource by a reputable source, the british National Health Service:
http://www.gires.org.uk/assets/DOH-Assets/pdf/doh-transgender-experiences.pdf

There are studies showing being transgender has biological connections, to do with brain development before birth. There are differences in brains of women and men so a mismatch is possible, in various stages. Imo thats why there is a transgender spectrum.

So its how people really feel, its nobodys fault, and its nothing to be ashamed of. It might help with self acceptance, and it might help cis peole understand. Transgender people have been around in all cultures... it simply is how people feel.
Apart from gender issues transgender people are people like everbody else, with normal needs and cravings.
There is no need for phobias. Its not like it was depicted in the media a long time ago. Even the media is coming around now, showing normal people.
Some people make a comparison with a male/female twin... people will be like a twin, with still the same sense of humour.

It never fails to amaze me how other people can be more inconvenienced and concerned at how our transness affects THEM instead of US.

For most people it really shouldn't affect them but alas this is the world in which we live.

That said the internet and others before us are changing the world making it easier for us than it will likely have been for them but it can still be difficult and not without risks.

Hello VivianB,
guess we have to cut ties with the transphobics, change place, move and find accepting people
