Hey there,
I'm a new transLadie (male to female transgender) who is still trying to get started on HRT! I just got my letter of recommendation from a councilor (I know you don't have to do this in some states, but I decided to anyway after I started to feel like nobody wanted to help out with prescribing hormones.)! I've seen a lot of videos on YouTube from other transLadies who show their transitioning timeline, and in the timeline videos I've seen their voices change and become less "manly" and more higher / softer. So, do hormones alter the voice in any way or is this false. I have been told no they don't. That's why I'm asking.
Hello! :) Unfortunately they won't alter our voice in the same way that testosterone works in the other direction. However, as you stay on hormones and start to look and feel more feminine you may be subconsciously more comfortable in a higher voice. No physical change, though.
I wish I could say it does, but sadly it doesn't. The best ways are work to work on your voice through vocal training and if needed surgery. There maybe other ways, but those are the ones I can think off of the top of my head. Hugs

Hello and welcome :)
Hormones help FTM people gain a lower voice, for MTF people they may help a little but not much.
Hormones may make the voice a bit softer.
Voice training is needed.
Imo its not difficult but it takes consistent training over months.
Basically its raising the voice and practising until a higher register is available.
Singing training can help.
Its training muscles of the larynx to hold in a higher position.
Reading a book in a slightly higher voice for example, in the beginning only for a few minutes a day.
Never overstrain your voice, just stop then. Drinking enough water to moisten the throat is also recommendable.
Its possible to record the voice from time to time, and listen for effect. A few different effects can be tried, like a more breathy voice.
Resonating undertones should be avoided. Laying a hand on the chest, there should be no resonance there.
Its like moving the voice to the head...
and females often also use a bit different vocabulary ... indirect expressions like might ... and their voice has more intonation, it goes more up and down within words and sentences.
As said imo most important is persistency, a few minutes every day.
