Last week, Target made a pledge in support of the right for its customers to use the restroom and fitting room that corresponds with their gender identity. Now, there is a growing campaign to #standwithtarget, and you can be a part of it by clicking here.
In its powerful statement, which has been published in the context of debate about anti-LGBT legislation around the country, Target wrote:
Recent debate around proposed laws in several states has reignited a national conversation around inclusivity. So earlier this week, we reiterated with our team members where Target stands and how our beliefs are brought to life in how we serve our guests.
Inclusivity is a core belief at Target. It's something we celebrate. We stand for equality and equity, and strive to make our guests and team emembers feel accepted, respected and welcome in our stores and workplaces every day. .......

I stand with Target
I'm very glad that Target is standing up for us.
That being said, it is so very, very, very sad that it's applause worthy for a company to declare that it's treating its transgender paying customers as human beings.
Has anyone started a counter petition? If not, I will. I'm gonna go look.
Dee,
I tried clicking on the link in the article to see how to #standwithtarget but I'm at work and the link was barred. I'd be curious if it was a link to a petition or seems to be a hashtag but I don't really understand the hashtag bits.
Hashtags are a search thing on social media sites that I don't use. I did create a petition on change dot org (I hope it's OK to mention that.) It will be visible as soon as five people sign it.

I signed.
I signed too. When Target came out and said toys and other items would no longer be gender labeled, the regressives were up and arms too. They did falter.
