Title: What questions should I be asking myself?
Post by: redhot1 on April 30, 2016, 11:30:50 AM
What are the questions or tests I need to be asking myself, before I go off seeing a gender therapist to figure other stuff out if I'm actually Transgender, cross dresser, or if I just do nothing etc. ?

I think they will ask them.  Be as honest as you can.

Go along with an open mind, your therapist should help you explore those questions. When I initially contracted mine, I simply said I had some confusion with my gender identity.

You could have a look here:

There are other experienced online therapists too...

- would you be a bit more happy if your body was a bit more female ?

- how would you feel in female clothes ?

Did you have dreams of being female, or some memories from childhood ?

You could think a bit about those.

This is my opinion, others probably will disagree - I suggest NOT doing a lot of research.  It might taint your opinions.  It will take time, but be 100% honest with your therapist.  I found when I finally got everything out I was a wreck and needed another session the next day.  I wish I had the foresight to tell all.  No matter how embarrassing or non-related you believe something is, it's important to tell the truth, the whole truth and don't lie (okay - nothing but the truth.)

The therapist is there to help and ask questions.  Some of the most "AH-HA!" moments I've had was when my therapist asked some very benign questions.  One was: Why did you come out to that person in particular.  WHAM - a huge light bulb turned on for me about coming out to others.

But to answer your question "what questions should I be asking myself?"  There are a bunch but at the end of the day "Will I be happier living as a Male/Female/something-in-between?"  That is impossible to answer until later.

I sometimes even wonder if being simply confused about my gender itself means something about it.

It may.
Usually cis people do not question their gender so it could be a sign in itself.
