Title: 12 months makes quite a difference! A good experience.
Post by: Cindy on May 01, 2016, 02:32:23 AM
I read many posts from people, in particular transwomen about their issues with not passing, fears that they will always be clocked et etc. One thing we say is don't worry , it takes time. And it does!

It would be about a year or so ago that I posted about taking my wife to a work reunion. I didn't know anyone, it went OK but I had a few comments that I didn't like, even though I doubt they were outright insults. But as you all know I have a very thick skin and shrugged them off.

Today we went to the second reunion.

Funny, people remembered my name. Wonder why? A women who had said something unpleasant to me came up to us and gave my a kiss on the cheek in greeting, and said, you look wonderful and so happy. In fact you are gorgeous. Which was nice as she meant it not in a condescending way but honestly.

We started dinner and a late comer arrived, an old friend of my wife, who came up to her and immediately started talking. She asked at the end of the initial onslaught of welcomes, how are you, etc etc, to ask "Where is hubby? He is still with you?" Ok a bit blunt but she is that sort of exfriend as I gathered from her initial introduction.

My wife just responded, 'Oh no she is her (indicating me), she is now a lovely woman' I looked up and smiled and said 'Hi I'm Cindy, Rebecca's partner'. I thought she was going to faint! she went white and started to breathe rapidly . "Oh wow, wow, well Oh nice to meet you Cindy, Wow" and staggered off to sit down.

My wife was giggling, the people we where sitting with had big grins and I felt pretty damn good.

Never give up hope people, time is our friend. Together with HRT, nice make up and a bucket full of confidence

You continue to inspire us all that we may indeed one day wake up in the life to which we aspire.

With so much focus on now it can be hard to accept that time may indeed be our greatest ally.

Thank you.

Thanks for that, Cindy! I go along feeling good about how things are going and then things go a little sideways and I start to feel discouraged. I know it takes time and the vast majority of things are good for me, but there are times I feel like running away. It is always good to have people like yourself to give encouragement.
