Hi,
I've now had two IPL treatments for beard removal as part of a course of six treatments.
While it appears that a lot of hair has disappeared there now seems to be an awful lot of white hair in the place of the dark hair I had before.
Does anyone know if it's possible for the pigment to be removed by the laser? I called the salon and they thought this wasn't possible and that it was simply white hair that has always been there but had been overshadowed by the black hair. There are a very highly regarded and reputable salon, btw.
I'm pretty worried about this as I now fear lengthy, painful and expensive electrolysis to remove this hair now.
Any opinions or experiences would be welcome.

Laser and IPL only get the dark hairs, so after 8 laser sessions all I have now is mostly white/blonde hairs, they were always there, but not obvious. But as these are softer and less visible, it helps with presentation and reduces shadow. Electro remains the only way to get those light hairs, I'm planning to start with that soon. Laser/IPL just save time and money over the pure electro route.

Meganjames2 said it best. In fact, I just went for my laser hair removal session yesterday and they wanted to make triple sure how coarse and dark my hair was because the laser would only pick up my black hairs, which in fact it did.
As Meganjames2 points out, the only other option to permanently remove your blonde / white hairs is good ole fashioned electrolysis, though I would wonder with as light and soft as they are now if you couldn't do it with a product in the comfort of your own home? That might be something you want to look into further.
There's also the chance that HRT, if you go down that road, may also help reduce or further soften some of the remaining lighter hair.

It's looking like a lot more electrolysis than I had planned on.
