I'm just wondering because I'm going to start wearing a binder soon but I've heard it makes your chest look a little weird after you get the surgery since wearing it flattens your breasts making the skin look a little strange.
I've never heard of this at all nor have i seen any examples or people with 'odd looking skin' after surgery. Wearing a binder and bras can make your chest 'sink down' and 'sag' though, this has no effect on your surgery. I wore a binder for two years and just had top surgery, my results look great. Almost every transmasculine person usually has long term use of a binder before they get top surgery because of dysphoria. Just make sure you measure your self right when buying a binder and buy the correct size!
the surgeon I talked to said he preferred guys to wear a binder and be on testosterone for a while before surgery, like 6 months. He said it broke down some of the tissue in the breast and made it easier to operate and get good results. but that's only one doctor I talked to.
It certain wouldn't change the quality of the results. Those will be whatever they will be. Not much can change that aside from a different surgeon.
But it may change what procedures are an option for you due to skin quality. If you're small chested (B-cup or below) with good skin quality (ie. no sagging), you can have peri done and avoid the double incision scarring. Binding breaks down the breast tissue and would make you less "perky", making peri a non-ideal procedure for you. I'm sure there are surgeons out there who would still do it if that was what you wanted, but it may take multiple revisions to come out well.
If you are already planning to have DI done, binding isn't going to hurt anything.

Good to know. Not that I ever had the option of doing a peri. :(
I wore a binder for almost 8 years before my surgery. My surgeon did asked how long I've wore a binder but he didn't seem to concern. I wasn't very big either so that might not affect much.
