I experienced something yesterday that threw me off because it was unexpected. I was sitting with some friends and told a funny anecdote and in the middle of it, knowing what I wanted to say next, I had to start giggling and laughing - you knw the kind where you cannot really stop, would totally spill your drink if you had it in your mouth and whenever you calm down a bit and want to say another word in the story, you have to laught again...
I felt my thoat tightening up intensely when I had this "laughing spell" and that was already feeling a bit uncomfortable but when I did what is sometimes do then - try to calm down a bit and keep telling the story, I felt quite a bit of pain in the throat and I could not speak at all. I really had to wait until I totally was not laughing at all anymore until I could go on talking, but some of the pain remained and even now the day after it feels kind of sore and not great.
I had my voice surgery 15 months ago, so I assume all is healed - I checked and my pitch seem to be ok, so no big damage, but it was very uncomfortable and definitely something to be avoided in the future - but I wonder what is happening there that did not happen pre-surgery and also I wonder if someone else had those experiences?
