Title: Voice Surgery in Thailand?
Post by: Meera0810 on May 11, 2016, 11:51:07 AM
Hi there, everyone! :)

I am a transwoman from India. I have been on HRT for 9 months now, and I am very happy with the results. But of course, my voice is unaffected. I have been trying to learn with the GenderLife's "Finding Your Female Voice" video series but it isn't helping much.

I am planning to have my SRS by the end of this year in Thailand, and I am contemplating having a voice surgery done as well because I really need a lot of work there. :'(  :'(

Anybody has any suggestions/advice to offer?

Has anyone here got voice surgery done in Thailand? What are the best options available? How were your results and recovery like?

I have been researching for some time, and I thought Preecha Aesthetics Institute (PAI) may be the best option to have both SRS and Voice surgery? Also, Yanhee Hospital.

Is it safe to have voice surgery done?

Thank you for your time.

OMG, I am really freaked out! :P

Welcome to Susan's Place. I know the surgery is safe and effective with 3 doctors but none are located in Thailand. As far as I know, nobody has reported voice surgery with a doctor in Thailand so you will have to rely on your own research. I had mine done by Dr Haben in New York and I am happy with the results. Good luck and let me know if you have any more questions.

I only have one single indirect report of a voice surgery in Thailand. Someone showed me a video of apparently her filming a conversation with 4 Thai trans women in the street business. She writes about the video that 3 of them had voice surgery in Thailand and two of the voices in the video were pretty good. But is just hearsay, really :( - Make sue you know what technique the are using there, how much experience they have and if they can give you voice references - videos of former patients showing before and after or something like that.

I personally wouldn't advise for voice surgery but if you do, at least go see a doctor who is VERY experienced and be sure the risks are minimal. Best of luck. :)

USA is too expensive for me. I have heard of Yeson clinic in South Korea, but even travelling to South Korea just for a voice surgery is not easy financially. Thanks for your reply :)
