I had my first Leuprorelin Acetate injection on Friday morning.
Having been on Estrogen for2-3 months and really starting to feel the benefits I've been looking forward to having the testosterone removed.
I'm aware that there is an initial increase in T for two or so weeks following the injection but since Friday night I've experienced the most awful levels of dysphoria, anxiety and sometimes depression.
Can anyone who's been through this tell me if what I'm experiencing is normal and if I will have to endure this for the whole two weeks? Things are really difficult right now and I'm afraid I won't cope with this for two weeks.
Julie
An anti-androgen is sometimes prescribed and taken 2 weeks before and 3 weeks after treatment to offset this temporary rise in androgen as it will BLOCK androgen. The estrogen may help offset it a little, depending on how much is taken. I'm sorry you are feeling this way but things should improve in 1-2 weeks. Your doctor should have perhaps prescribed an anti-androgen to prevent this from happening.
Thanks for your reply Kay.
Last night I started feeling much better and today I'm feeling not too bad. I guess it'll be up and down over the next couple of weeks but at least the horrible dysphoria and anxiety have gone for now.
