Title: Best answer ever (for me)
Post by: Ive on May 16, 2016, 12:32:49 PM
Hello everyone,

I am still very new to this forum, and to the transgeder and LGBTQI world (which is the entire world, as I believe), so you may consider not to judge me if I say stupid things or I somehow offend someone.

Well, yesterday I had this experience with a cousin of mine.
She asked me what does it means that I feel a woman (I have a name body but feel a girl).
I tried to tell her about the identity, identification, but I got her only more confused.
Then I had a brilliant idea (yes, I feel often very brilliant...so boring Lol).
Me: <<Do you feel a boy?>>
Her: <<No, I don't>>
Me: <<Neither I do! I feel a girl, and have a penis!>>

Best explication ever!

That was actually fun XD
Hugs to everyone!
Iv.

Oh yes, there are certainly many girls and women with a penis.  Anatomy is not destiny. ;D

That's a great way to explain it.

My therapist described it to me this way...

Most of the people in the world NEVER think about their gender.  They are who they are.  For me I thought about being female every day for the past 48 years (17,500+ days!).

Someone, I think it was Dena, who described being a woman as being uneventful.  It just is who I am, I don't think about it anymore.

In my case I'm envious of 50% of the population and I find myself starting to pity the other 50%.  When I'm out en-fem I'm comfortable.  When I'm out in guy mode and stop and think about it for more than a second I get paranoid, and self-conscience that everyone is looking at the fraud.

I once felt the fraud too and also once felt that no one could really know me as only my eyes felt like they were part of the "real" me.  "I was an alien sent to earth as an observer" was another lame way of explaining or joking about my sense of feeling so weird. :D

Drama and theatrics anyone?  Some of us got pretty convincing at our acting craft ;) ;D

I tell people they don't understand gender because it matches their physical sex and they never have to think about it. I tell them if they woke up tomorrow in the opposite sex's body then they would be very aware of their internal sense of gender.

Hello everyone!

Thanks for your replies!
In particular, Pj, thanks for having shared the definition by your therapist :P
And "uneventful", yes, that is the "serenity" I experienced only when I understood I was a girl.

Lil_red, yes, it takes a lot of effort, always.
Some weeks ago also my cousin, which is very open, showed some confusion.
Here I came with the "Genderbread person" (here: http://itspronouncedmetrosexual.com/2015/03/the-genderbread-person-v3/), and used it to explain the differences between things.
Science is always good!

Tessa, acting... I was a great actor... and still am! But I feel not stupid any more :)

Thanks everyone, and see you around!
Kisses from Italy!
Iv.

How fun!  Some of the best features of this "Place" are due to the international contributors like you.  Being able to share perspectives with people all over the world is critical to understanding each other and ourselves.

Take a bow, brave thespian, while we send hugs, kisses and flowers in return ;D ;D ;D
