I finally found the courage to come out to someone at work. Should have done it sooner because she was really wonderful. Patty is one, in a long line of women I have cultivated relationships with trying to be their girlfriend but the first to really know me.
I started with a conversation about the ugly NC bathroom law and she seemed sympathetic so I asked if she wanted to talk. We ended up in a conference room with the door closed where I told her what a good friend she was, how much I cared about her and that there was something about me she probably wouldn't guess in a 1000 years.
To remove the concerned look on her face, I quickly spilled out that I was transgender and had been trying to find a way to tell her. She told me it didn't matter, didn't change anything and wanted to know if I was transitioning and if she could help. I told her I was trying and what she had said had made me very happy. She gave me a big hug. All and all it was a very good day and my hope meter for the future went up several notches.

Thanks for sharing this, Kath! We love a happy post. :)

Kath,
I'm so happy for you. It sounds like you handled "the telling" very well. It feels great to get it off your chest doesn't it?
Moni
That's more than a little AWESOME!
We can all only hope it goes that well!!
Hey Kath.
I borrowed some of your courage and came out to a coworker today. She was really cool with it telling me how much she admired my courage and that it doesn't change anything as she likes me for the person I am.
Just wanted to tell you thanks for posting your experience. It helped me.
Big Hug,
Courtney
Hi Courtney
I'm glad my post was able to help. The person I told also said she thought
I was very brave. I don't feel that way most of the time .. more like nervous
and insecure but I do admit having a feeling of strength and accomplishment
on my reveal day.
All the best,
Kath
Thats really awesome! isnt it great when telling someone goes well?
