As I posted a while back, the first endocrinologist I went to turned me down for HRT. She gave several reasons all of which amounted to BS and after that, I was not in a good place for weeks.. A few people had told me she was very conservative. However a friend who is an RN and was a patient of that endo told me she thought the doctor was cherry picking her cases looking for young people who are easy to manage.
So fast forward to today. I saw Dr. Tangpricha at Emory University Clinic. I was evaluated to start with by a younger doctor and then she conferred with him. Dr. Tangpricha came in, asked a few questions and said he saw no reason I shouldn't start HRT (tears started) but wanted some blood tests to check current hormone levels, kidney and liver functions, etc. I've had all those tests, except the hormone levels, in the last six months so everything should come back ok. He will look at those and then send a prescription to my local pharmacy which should be by Wednesday or Thursday. I'll be starting estrogen twice daily for four months and then we'll look at increasing it. Before I couldn't stop crying because I was turned down. Now I can't stop crying because I'm so happy.
Mod Edit:Dosage
Congrats!
Mea Culpa for including dosage. I plead temporary insanity.
congrats. now when you get it put it on a table and let it sit there for a few days.
Congratulations, I still remember the feeling when I finally got the OK for HRT. You are on your way.
Congratulations

Congratulations, BeverlyAnn. When I first read your post about being turned down, I was so disappointed that you had run across such a gatekeeper of an endo. Yeah, there are risks, as with everything in life, but they can be kept to a minimum, and are nothing compared to trying to get by without treatment.
Your persistence in tracking down a supportive endo, and getting the treatment you deserve, is a testament to your character. I'm impressed, and you deserve the praise AND treatment.
Congratulations! HRT was the best thing I ever did for myself, so you have a lot to look forward to!
Congrats!
Makes me feel better too, just reading about somebody else getting a reason for happiness.
Congrats. That is so wonderful.
Congrats!!! Dr. Tangpricha is the bees knees!
Congratulations and so sorry to hear that you had such an obstacle course to overcome. <3
