Title: Testosterone: Effects and Concerns
Post by: LJfusion on May 23, 2016, 06:44:31 PM
Hello, all.

I have finally, finally found a place to get testosterone! I started last week so it's only my fifth day on testosterone.

I bought myself a little book that I'm writing everything in, from my appetite to being sick to feelings. I will discuss everything with my doctor again in June.

So far I've noticed very few things, which I expected no changes yet. I will list each effect and concern, along with a question if there's one I have for that particular statement.

1. I'll start with the first thing I noticed. When injected, it doesn't hurt and I wasn't too nervous. However, I could actually feel the testosterone enter my body. They say it's a thick solution so I'm guessing that's why, but the feeling was unsettling. It made me nauseous and I felt very faint. I felt nauseous all day and after four hours had a bad headace. The next day I was fine. I'm hoping this goes away within the next few shots because it sucks. Thank God my shot day is my day off each week. What does your shot make you feel if anything at all?

2. I got sick. This might be a coincidence but I'm stating it anyway. I started coughing, then came congestion, and then breathing problems. There are too many factors to pin point the cause but the options are testoserone, sick coworker, and mold caused my flooded apartment. I heard many people get sick after their first shot so I threw it in as a maybe.

3. ENERGY. This one is huge. Was months now ice been sleeping 12-16 hours a day. The last three days I've slept 8-9 and feel GREAT despite being sick. I'm so happy because I can finally get to the gym again and not sleep my day away.

4. Appetite and hunger. So my hunger has decreased at meal time. I can't eat much at all. Example, I bought chick fil a today and could only eat five of the nuggets and no fries at all compared to always finishing the meal in the past. I do eat more often though. So I eat less more often. Instead of meals, I snack throughout the day but still not consuming more than I did last week. My appetite comes and goes. Even when I'm hungry I have no appetite for things. Everything jut sounds gross at times until twenty minutes later and suddenly everything sounds amazing.

5. My "downstairs" feels weird. I have to keep adjusting my pants and open my legs more than I used to. It doesn't hurt, it just feels..weird. it doesn't seem to look different but I'm not 100% sure if it's different. Anyone else have it feel weird after taking testosterone? Does it feel funny as it grows? Do you become more aware of it on a daily basis as it grows since it's a new feeling?

Going the other way I can't comment on most of this but there are two things that come to mind. Item number 2 is something to watch out for. Testosterone is in an oil suspension and that oil is a vegetable oils. It is possible to have an allergic reaction to the injection and if you are having one, you should contact your doctor and see if you show stop using that brand. Different brands use different oils so it should be possible to find something you don't react to.

As far as your clitoris, expect it to become very sensitive long before you see much growth. That is one of the thing that FTMs seem to notice first.

I don't think I've ever noticed the liquid going in. I imagine feeling it this time was probably a result of being hyper-aware. The first few times, I did get a hot flash right after injecting and felt very nauseous, but that went away with time and practice. I don't really feel anything now. Needle goes in, maybe a little bit of surface pain where it breaks the skin, but nothing beyond that. It's all over in a span of a few seconds. I don't have any after effects either.

Congestion generally isn't something guys experience that I've seen. Sore throat, fatigue, flu-like symptoms are pretty common. Congestion makes it more likely to be a cold or other respiratory issue.

I haven't really tracked my sleep, but I don't think there's been a big change in it. I liked sleep before, I like it now. My appetite also has not changed on T.

Downstairs growth is one of the first changes people usually get. It wasn't something I noticed on a day to day basis, but I was aware that something was going on with it. It just felt irritated.

Can you elaborate on this? I've been experiencing this lately and the doctors have no idea what's wrong with me.

It was mostly just soreness from going through growth spurts. It goes away once it's done growing for that period of time. IME, it wasn't a slow, constant growth but random, short periods of growth.

If you're on T, I would definitely start measuring. I started with nothing visible, so it was fairly obvious for me when growth took place.

The day after my first shot I immediately felt an irritation and aching. It later about 2 week. It was very uncomfortable. It felt like an ache. Sure enough I was growing. You can feel it right away. It doesn't last long and any growth after that is only noticeable by sight. Nothing to worry about.

My appetite was also reduced immediately after starting T, and my sleep also reduced.

My appetite is now up somewhat. I think my body was producing a lot of E when I started T. I had hot flashes and other symptoms like that. That is probably why your appetite seems to be in flux. Female hormones can make you nauseated and to lose your appetite. When you body settles down and realizes the T is here to stay your appetite will come back.

I never feel the oil go in but everyone is different. Hopefully this will not continue to be distressing to you.

My doctors have tested me for just about everything and they can't figure out what's wrong. I only have one symptom and it's itchiness. I think the testosterone is changing the skin type 'down there' or something.

Do you mean itching like you have to scratch?

I've had genital itching for years. Actually it cleared up for a while on T but now that I've changed my dose it's back. Could be that I had an E resurgence for a couple of weeks with a different formula, dunno. I take Zyrtec sometimes to make it go away. Only problem is that it makes me sleep in.

In my case, it's the labia, anus, and perinium that itch, not the clitoris. Contrawise, on T the clitoris has become irritated/irritable but I wouldn't describe it as itching exactly. Sometimes I guess it's like burning. Similar to itching at times, I suppose. I think the nerves are pinging because the erectile tissues are actually growing due to the influence of DHT, which is a hormone derived from T. I found that packing with a sock helped prevent irritation but at some times it's so annoying that the only thing that worked was rubbing everything with coconut oil before I left for work. It stopped the irritation.

Coconut (copra) oil is available for cheap under the Luzianne brand. (It's used for deep frying food.) Just scoop out a tiny amount with a spoon and let it melt on your fingers and rub it in.

Lanacane helps in that area, I find.
