Title: Liveheath Online? Possible online therapists?
Post by: Kamidel on May 23, 2016, 10:21:12 PM
I got a notification from my insurance today that I was eligible to use a new system called LiveHealth Online and it has access to licensed psychologists and therapists. But I am still leary of starting that can of worms having had a few  bad run ins with therapists and forcing me to medicate for problems I didn't actually have.

Has anyone had/have any experience with this program? I looked at the pricing and most are $80-95 a session with a few outliers.

I've never heard of it... what kinds of run ins did you have? I've only had one bad experience with a therapist the first time I tried to transition

I have a had a long string of them dating back to childhood, but most notable are being diagnosed ADD/ADHD then having Ritalin and other drugs tested on me and Being diagnosed Bi-polar/Manic-depressive and having Prozac and anti-convulsants shoved at me. In the end I got second opinions and later found I could have sued them if the statute of limitations had not run out.

All in all not fun.

I would ask them if they have any qualified gender therapist who have treated transgender people on staff. My guess is the answer will be no and if so, that isn't a good deal. You will also want to ask if the have the ability to prescribe HRT and can write the letters you will need. Because often doctors can't do this across state lines, the help they might provide could be limited.

I've never heard of it, but I don't see it being any different than trying to find a "real life"/face-to-face therapists. You'll still want to seek the same credentials, ask the same questions, and still want to try and find a therapist you are comfortable with. Hopefully they will have a decent selection for you to choose from.
