Title: Swelling?
Post by: kimbee777 on May 29, 2016, 12:57:53 AM
I'm 5 weeks post-op and still very swollen... my doctor said 3/4 swelling should be gone by 4 weeks, but my labia majora are still sticking out like an inch from my body  ??? I know everyone heals at different rates but have any of you girls had bad swelling at this stage? It's depressing because I feel like I look the same every morning. I also had loose stitches around my vaginal canal and now the muscle is sticking out on the entire right side. My gyno said it should heal but there is no skin growing over the exposed area. I'm getting so annoyed and depressed over my results. I'm terrified of getting an infection! Dr. Bowers has been a nightmare to communicate with post op.

I had really, really bad swelling - like, Brassard's nurses said it was the worst they'd seen, and they see a LOT of women.  The good news is that it did all go away; in my case, that took close to two years (but it looked almost normal for the second year). Incidentally, Brassard also said that it usually takes at least a year for all the swelling to disappear, and that it would be at least four months before it had reduced enough to get a sense of the details down there, so 4 weeks seems *really* early. I wouldn't worry about it yet.
