Title: Blogging as a form of therapy
Post by: HeatherR on May 29, 2016, 06:24:39 PM
So I began seeing a new therapist, one whom has expressed early on that she doesn't provide letters of referral.  At first, this bothered me, but soon became a non-concern as we began talking a bit more.  I figured I'd see her as more of a stress sponge, and less as a gateway for transition.  One of the things I came out of my sessions with her was blogging.

I find the written word is easier to elaborate on deep concerns, as well as being able to find the proper words to convey what are usually complex feelings.  So I began writing this blog and low and behold people have been sharing it.  Finding an all-inclusive "transgender story" seems to be fairly common, as we all have similar experiences in various parts of our lives.  We also have a lot of differences, which I believe are what emphasize the human condition and are what creates a relate-able story.

When all is said and done, I've found that putting concerns onto "paper" have reduced the overall daily stress in my life, as I am starting to carry a lot less of this baggage around with me.

Anyways, if anyone would be interested in reading or sharing these written blurbs, you are more than welcome.  I hope that maybe my experiences translate somewhat with yours.  It has helped me bridge the gap with a few of my friends and family.
