Hi there!
I'm set on getting started in this long transition journey and the first issue I want to tackle is beard removal. I have a course, thick dark beard that leaves a noticeable shadow no matter how carefully and closely I shave. So I want to get electrolysis done, yet I have very sensitive skin and I'm pretty scared about scarring. I've done some research and it seems that of all three electrolysis methods, galvanic is the safest for skin because it doesn't produce heat. The problem is that it's also the slowest. Has anyone gotten their facial hair removed through galvanic? I'd really appreciate all feedback.
Welcome to Susan's Place. I had mine removed with the blend which is part galvanic. The trick is to have a knowledgeable operator because if the setting are to high, you will get scarring. I my operator was very aware of the problem because she had scarring from another operator. As the result, my treatment left no scarring though may have taken a bit longer because of the lower power setting. Another option is multi needle where more than one needle is used at a time. I am aware of the process but it's a galvanic only process.

Hi, yes, I've had multi-probe (32) galvanic. That means the operator can zap 32 follicles at once. It's been good for me. Yes, it can be a slow (and expensive) process but you usually only need one pass...the probe pretty much kills the follicle dead first time. I'd agree with Dena, it is the skill of the operator that counts most - you not only want someone who has done it for years, but regularly and on beards for trans women. Also, it hurts regardless. You will get some swelling and spotting for a day or so afterwards. You won't be able to shave for a day or two before and it is recommended not to shave directly afterwards (to avoid scarring).
If you have a dark haired beard but fair skin you might want to consider laser first as that can help to reduce the electro you might need.

That describes me, and I tried laser, and it made it WORSE. So I'm not so sure suggesting that is a good idea.
Hair removal is always a potentially fraught process...it sure does rely on the skill and experience of the person doing it with God only knows what other variables. Sorry to hear that happened to you. All the same, laser has been used by many others to good effect, it really depends.
My lady prefers single hair electro work however she also does the galvanic system. It seems to work pretty well for me. It kills more nasty hairs quicker. So go for it. Good luck.
