Title: why do we need to blame God
Post by: stephaniec on May 30, 2016, 02:11:41 PM
I'm just curious why as humans responsible for our own lives need God as the ultimate scape goat for all our ills which for the most part are caused by ourselves. The  rest just processes of nature which in the long term balance out the forces of nature .

I think the answer is as simple as they believe what the Bible says about God.

I don't blame a god for anything. I know that my life is a one of a kind collection of experiences, both good and bad. I make the most of it, and feel no need to deflect the bad, it's simply a part of my story.

Cognitive dissonance.

Which is a means by which to cope with conflicting states of mind or reality.

My own father is an ex-Catholic. He left the faith after watching his own father die slowly and painfully over 6 months. According to him, if God is love, there is no justification for such suffering to a man who didn't deserve it.

Personally I believe that when people say "god is love" what they are referring to is their own desire to find love and feel love in the world. When they feel that love is lacking, or when they are just overwhelmed by suffering, some of them decide that god is either cruel, or absent. In my father's case, he took the Catholic teachings literally and very much to heart, and those teach that god created everything, including the disease his father died from.

I was raised in the Catholic Church which I firmly rejected when I was about 17. My idea of God could be slightly left of center but then I always have been.

When I was going through puberty and still an active Altar Boy within the church( I got to wear a dress in public..if only they knew HA HA) I blamed god for all of my woes. The biggest thing for me when I was a youngster was seeing all these people filing into church on Sunday and filing out an hour later to return to doing exactly what they always did regardless of the church teaching. I saw hypocrisy running rife and felt that if there was a god I doubt that attending a social function called church once a week got me the golden ticket into "heaven"

I believe in reincarnation and don't believe we ever die. I don't necessarily mean we come back as other people or animals but our energy, our soul or our "being" continues...so blaming god is pointless especially when I don't believe she exists in any form that we as humans, can really understand.

Blame God, yes I do. But this is my belief. A singel and multiple being. E.g we as human have emotions, these can be described as different aspect of our personality. I see God as different beings for each emotion. And yet all these beings although seperate are one entity. Kind of like how, every human "individual" make up hamanity "multiple".

That said. Why do I blame God? Truth is I don't, I thank God for giving me comfort and strengh to come out and be myself and supporting me in with the challenges God sets me. Oh the suffering God causes me.

I understand this is my perspective on life, but when I am without food I thank God that I have had food, in order to miss food.

My life has been hard, but as hard as it has been, the hardest parts of my life has Ben witnessing hardships experienced by others and being unable to shoulder some of the burden. I'm sorry that your farther and you or anybody had to go through, such an experience.

I was raised as a Christian, but am more of a Deist now. I think that if a "God" put us here on earth, then they just let us be and let us make our own decisions, as well as just let things happen. I don't believe there is necessarily interaction or interference with how we live our lives.

I think my parents in particular believe God is behind everything because that is what they were taught in Churches. For example, my mom doesn't blame God, but thinks there is a reason God gave me an extreme anxiety disorder. To her, that reason is that God believes anxiety will "make me a stronger person". I believe I'm just missing some chemicals in my brain, either from being born early or because anxiety runs genetically through my dad's family, etc. I think that is why I had such a hard time accepting my anxiety was getting so bad as I got older, I was raised to believe "God gave it to me for a reason". I eventually realized that was crap, but yeah. Basically if my parents are taught abc, they believe abc and usually without any question from their end.

Edit: Wow, that turned into a brief anxiety rant, apologies for the slight derail. My point was that I don't blame God because I believe God wouldn't make someone suffer for the fun of it, things just happens sometimes. Even if someone was "evil", God wouldn't want them to suffer by his will.

I mean ill admit I have gotten angry with God and questioned him but everything does happen for a reason, you may never know that reason for a very long time unfortunately but you have to understand its not for you to question. I realize I have to let go and let God

the point for me is that we have food, shelter , tools to advance and live pleasantly. Life can be a bitch , but the possibilities are all there and if the human species would grow up we would take care of each other.

Why? Because the Bible, particularly the New Testament, is full of promises.  But all we ever get is apologetics.

We all go through things in life some worse than others you can't blame God for diseases when the devil is the creator of diseases, he comes to kill steal and destroy not God,  get it twisted, prayer does work in change things but that's only if you believe but the fact of the matter is we are all gonna die one day, gotta stop acting like tomorrow is promised and live for today.
