Title: Where do you slap your patch?
Post by: Megan. on May 30, 2016, 02:56:38 PM
For those using E patches, where do you put them? And is any one place better than another?

Studies suggest buttocks is the best for absorption.

Various patches adhere differently.  I use the Sandoz patches (rectangle) and they stick great for me.

I have four spots, right and left posterior cheeks and outer upper arm under my shirt sleeve.  These are the four places that allow for alternating application site that have the best "stickiness" results.  My endo and I discussed the various placement spots after my butt started to soften and fill in making adherence difficult.  I usually wear tight panties when patching my buttocks and a tight sleeved shirt when on the arm.

I tend to perspire on my belly when working out at yoga, so the abdomen locales do not work well for me.

Your mileage may vary on all of this...just my experience.

I used to do them across my chest. Anywhere else and either clothes rub them off or hot bath water makes them fall off.

I usually put mine on the front of my upper thighs. My patches are the plastic film ones, and so crumple up when that area of skin moves too much, plus they leave behind a sticky residue with a load of fluff from my clothes which is a nightmare to get off

I put mine on my buttocks. This seems to work well although I've learned to put them on when I'm in a relatively normal posture.

I've settled on tops of thighs for now, and I'll see how it goes. I'm using the Evorel patches and they seem to stay put quite well, even through running and showers.

I was considering 'stickiness' of the various patches the other day.  My girlfriend and I like to take baths together and we usually have a bath bomb...heavenly, btw...

Anyway, most bath bombs have a lot of softening oils in them.  I had found that the combination of really hot water and the oils actually would start the edges of my patches to start lifting.  Because of this, we started to limit our baths to right before a patch change out.  Oh the price we pay!

So one day I was walking around the house wearing my tight'ish bikini bottom and decided to leave it on to see if it would help with keeping the patches secure...whala!  It worked!

So, if you are concerned about your patches moving around while bathing, maybe a tight pair of panties or the like would be helpful :)

I just had a nice long bath with a couple of bombs, and my evorel patch did not budge :-)

I've tried them all over my trunk, lower abdomen, hips, low back, upper butt.  I generally think they are most even on my upper butt just below my panty line.

Studies suggest buttocks yield the highest levels.
