Title: I have made my biggest victory in my transition so far.
Post by: slyblue on June 01, 2016, 07:11:40 PM
Today, I went for my follow up appointment for HRT, and brought my doctor my letter for hormones from my therapist. The practitioner prescribed me testosterone, and I return tomorrow for my first injection! I will be taking an injection every two weeks for two months. I'm a bit afraid due to my pre-existing emotional problems that I will experience a rollercoaster of emotions towards the end of every two weeks, right before my shot, so I've decided to talk to my practitioner about possibly taking half a dose every week. I think this will have the same results and the testosterone will stay more consistent in my body. Anyways, needless to say, I will be starting Testosterone tomorrow. My prescription is being filled as we speak :)

Congrats on the T!

Now, the rollercoaster of emotions, that can be tricky. I've been on T for almost two months and had to stop taking my medications for my manic depression. I take injections weekly to avoid the dip in my mood that I would experience if I did injections every two weeks. My mood swings have been frequent- but not nearly as bad as I thought they would be, considering that I'm off of my other meds. If anything the extremity of emotions I feel during a swing has flatlined, but everyone is different and I would monitor yourself and your moods.

Hey congrats! I didn't do much research on hormone stuff, but your plan sounds like it should work out pretty well. Wish you luck. :)

Thanks guys. So today I went for my first injection and its been about six hours, and I'm sweating really badly. I know a side affect of t is sweating, but I didn't think it'd happen this soon. I had a relatively high level of testosterone in my body prior to beginning t, so maybe this could be causing it? I don't know.

Side effect, yes. As long as your not having rashes, trouble breathing or sudden swelling, lightheaded or nausea I'd say it's just shocking your system a bit and call your doctor tomorrow if your still worried . But for sure drink plenty of fluids so you don't get dehydrated and cause serum levels to rise from dehydration. It could also be from anxiety.
