Title: Out, Proud and Restrooms
Post by: Loved_PrincessMPLS on June 04, 2016, 10:21:24 AM
I work for a major bank here in the US, and I just came out yesterday. We have a special transition team that works to help you transition from a supportive corporate perspective.

I was stunned at how supportive my managers were, despite my myriad tears when we had my coming out meeting.

I am allowed to use the female restroom from now on, but I must use it consistently. I used it several times yesterday and was nervous when females were in there (as I am not yet dressing fully female, though I am extremely effeminate bad my nails are done to the nines.)

Regardless, it felt like such a burden had been lifted and I can even change my preferred female name internally effective immediately and it will also be changed on my badge, e-mail, etc.

Thank you, Cindi  :)

I would love to hear yours and others' stories of coming out, be they positive or otherwise.

Congrats, it is nice to have an open minded company. Where I work, they have recently acknowledged the transgender population. They are striving to treat us more equally.
