Title: Hair Removal - coverage under provincial health?
Post by: islandgirl on June 04, 2016, 06:43:32 PM
I was reading the article concerning New Brunswick surgery coverage and was surprised by one of the statements  in the article. It referred to laser hair removal being an insured service in some provinces. Can any Canadian girls let me know if you have this in your province. If so, does it only cover laser or is electrolysis covered? I cannot find anything in the BC health information. Thanks.

I know there's discussion of laser hair removal *eventually* being covered under OHIP (Ontario health plan), but as far as I know, this isn't yet a reality.  I used to live in BC, and I know that for now, only GCS (bottom surgery) and breast augmentation (only in certain rare situations in which there's no breast development at all following 2 years of HRT) are covered by MSP.

Yes, that is my understanding too! I am still wondering where the info in the article came from.
