Title: Really? After only 11 days?
Post by: Denise on June 06, 2016, 07:36:41 AM
OMG.  11 days ago I received my first shot of E.  Took the second one 3 days ago. This morning my nipples are sore, it's wonderful, scary and most distracting [emoji5] .

I assume from other comments (considering YMMV) this is normal(ish)?

It's completely normal. Be careful cause they hurt quite a bit when bumped by doors etc. :P

How are you receiving it? Considering starting myself, have been through all of the protocol with Dr.'s and therapist. Seems to be a bit of a moving target with shots, oral, patch's and implants as to what the best option is. Do not like the liver issue with the oral regime.

Shouldn't take long until you bump them for the first time. That's wonderful, scary, and distracting, too. With a dollop of "oweee!" thrown in for good measure!  ;D

Shots.  One per week.  Therapist and dr both suggested shots.

Now the question is... How long before I can't hide it.  Would like one more vacation with my wife before i can't pass as a guy.

It really all depends on the type of Medes and how your body handles them. I am 36, started <not allowed>Delestrogen bi-weekly injections and <not allowed> Spironolactone daily on April 22, 2016 and have had some amazing results. Within 1st week, nipples and surrounding tissue was very sore with small nodules forming behind them, since have spread and become pretty noticeable without a sports bra. I would say more than half an Acup! By the end of the 1month, my skin was dryer and sooooo smooooth! The majority of my muscles have lost the firmness that they once had, and are getting a little smaller, most notably in my arms. My hips started aching at about month 2 but that is normal as well. The ligaments in the hips will loosen a bit and they rotate forward. Went in for blood work on June 10th and my T is suppressed with my E being a little on the high side, so injections were scaled back to <not allowed>. Oh and to help with the breast tenderness try a heating pad, works wonders!! I hope this info helps!

Moderator edit:  Dosages are not allowed.

Definitely normal; I had visible growth and couldn't ignore the soreness at five days. And I couldn't hide it past three months, though I also had some gynecomastia to start with which probably contributed. As always, your mileage may vary. :)

How long before I can't hide it.

You can hide it quite a while if that's what you want to do.  Most people are pretty obtuse and absorbed with their own issues and not inclined to check out a guy for boobs.  Combined with the inattention of the world, a loose flannel shirt will get you a long way if you don't want to be noticed.

Yup, that one comes about quickly... the rest will be quite gradual. If it gets too bad. Lanolin, topical nursing cream, they sell it in the baby isle. It'll take the edge off.

A simple sports bra will hide them for a long long time... probably a year easy. Under a button up shirt you have some good pectoral muscles...

A sports bra might help, but I was being talked about for my chichas at work at about 3 months. They didn't think I understood and I just let it go.
Ymmv everyone grows differently

Yeah, I couldn't hide it anymore at 3 months, even when I had a tight sports bra under a loose undershirt with a loose shirt on top. (And that got hot fast as summer approached!) I agree with StevieC0 that everyone is different.

This is interesting.  I'm on just spironolactone right now (estrogens on hold til another issue is resolved), and after a couple weeks, I'm noticing some effects in my state of mind.  Specifically, I feel like my emotions are much closer to the surface, and I easily break out in a big smile, or start crying.  Mentally, below this I feel much calmer in the core of my mind.  I've compared this to living with a swarm of angry bees, and now they are gone.

Has anyone else had a similar experience with anti-androgens, or is this all a really weird placebo effect?  It's all in my head either way, I suppose... ;)

0_0 Baseball size?

My pain comes and goes, which is a sign they're growing from what I'm told. I'm glad it's not all the time for me because god bless it I work in a freakin freezer all day. And as I knew I was changing and losing my tolerance to cold there are many times I'm like god bless it girls why do I have to hurt more on the top and my overall body hehe. I love the changes so I don't really complain as much. And they stopped asking me to go into the freezer 24/7 I go in fewer times now. But if I gotta I suck it up and work in there as much as I need to.

I was told at 8 months by two independent customers that my girls are no longer hidden.  This is with a sports bra, a t-shirt and my button down, XL work shirt.  There are some other tell tale signs that we be ever so hard to hide, mostly softening facial features...

For that, breast development is one of those validations that we as a tribe seem to strive for.  My "bumps" (just under the nipple) started at about 2 weeks being sore and itchy before becoming downright painful.  My endo and GP both told me I am fine and it is normal.  At a few months, I expected the ebb and flow of development, but they just keep hurting along and it has been a long while that I have been able to chest in to anything.

MMV, for sure!  You may or may not be able to hide them in short order...oh, that which we go through for truth in expression! :) <3
