I know that when my mother was pregnant both my mother and father want me to be a girl.
Do you think that this has any connection to me always having a desire to be a girl.
Perhaps with my mothers strong desire for a girl her body produced some sort of hormonal / physiological alteration.
Has anyone else had these thoughts?

Hi Wendy ,
I have definitely had these thoughts ! I agree :-)
Since how Chromosomes are attached somewhat randomly by what research is showing to our DNA Ladder , I personally can't conclude as fact that what your saying or what I think too is fact ?
I think , not that you asked :-) your and my theory , its more fact than fiction .
I will add too that more times than not the wishes and desires of those parents wanting a particular sex is very detrimental to allot of us Trans . We often face serious resentments from parents because they didn't get what they wanted . Sadly , I was hated and abused by my Mother because of it , too this day . Except she isn't in my life because of it , because if your not with me your against me , Ta Ta :-)
So , great topic Wendy .
PS ...Susans has a GREAT resource library here for all that to explain things on many subjects , especially on the genetic and such , why's and such . Pretty cool :-)
I have thought this through a number of times over the past 40 years...it always comes back to an unanswer and WTF.
That said, probably the best guess I have heard from any of my doctors is that there was a trauma to my bio-mom during her carrying of me. This trauma caused her system to go in to a survival mode. I may not have received the proper hormone baths to fully develop my brain as 'male'. The initial bath was enough to start my chromosomal development as male, but the upstairs took a slightly different path.
I have always felt there has to be a biological component to my identity issue. It is not environmental that I can tell. It is not a sexual desire or a fetish. In the end it really does not matter. I am working through it with the help of a great team of physicians and therapy. The rest is academic and great for discussion,. but little in the way of relevance.
What you are proposing is as good a theory as any I have ever heard.
Yes its an interesting subject.
Maybe the mere suggestion that we are deficient of a chromosome our hormone in the womb may imply that we are ill or have some sort of mental illness.
I don't consider myself ill or sick either physically or mentally, the only illness I have is that this sack of flesh around my bones is disguised as male and not the real female I am.
Perhaps this is an avenue that needs more scientific research.
There's certainly a lot we don't know about the biochemistry of gender. Still, it's hard for me to believe that the subjective thoughts of your mom (and still less your dad!) during the pregnancy predisposed you to your particular gender identity.
I think it's more likely that your parents' desire for a girl may have subtly influenced how they socialized and raised you as an infant and a child.
Hi April
Yeh I agree, its hard to believe that a simple desire for a girl could influence the gender of the infant in the womb. However we don't know what influences that desire, could there be other biological influences at work who knows, we may never know.
Me for one, well I was brought up to be a boy in every sense of the word, toy machine guns, cars, "beer". I got caught by my dad once wearing my mothers underwear... OMG I got into some bother for that.
I have 2 cousins whose mother REALLY wanted girls, both of her sons are men who like men, but neither are transgender. I think it has something to do with it, but I'm not sure how much. My mother drank lot of soda while pregnant with me, now I can't make it through a day without at least 1 soda. Can't really say any other stuff about mine, as I've never asked previously, and haven't come out to her yet.
