Hey everyone,
So I didn't know where to post this but I need to know. As a trans woman can I start a successfully company? Would I be taken seriously or would I have any respect from anyone? I'm just a little worried that when I start my transition my ideas for a tech startup will go out the window. And if that happens I will no longer see myself as relevant because this is a dream I've had for a very long time. Does anybody have any comments?

If your company is making money I don't think anyone will care in the slightest. Sure, there may be some detractors but what do they matter?
Don't think it would make any difference. A company success depends on a lot of other factors and if you have a good idea - go for it and good luck with your startup! Write down your ideas and get moving ;D. I do regret not having followed up on a few startup ideas in the past seeing that there are now other companies making a lot of money with the same services we have been planning to offer.
Keep in mind that especially the tech scene is a whole lot more understanding and supportive of the LGBT+ community.
I'll most likely revive my dormant LLC in a few month....
Where it would get interesting is if a MTF business owner could claim "women owned business" benefits when bidding for government contracts. Technically they should.
Anyone can start a company. You don't need to tell them you're trans to be the owner and the manager.
How much do you know about the owners of all the companies you see around you?
You absolutely can. I have started three and sold two of them. Your gender will not matter, beyond the typical prejudice you see elsewhere in the world. I see customers, business partners, allies etc all of the time. Have i lost some business because of prejudice? probably, but i also have likely gained.
I don't think you'll have any issues. Make sure that you're hiring trans friendly people, and don't make a big deal out of it with clients. Simple as that. I am in the process of starting a business now and don't foresee any problems.
I've noticed that's there quite a few trans business owners on these forums. There seem to be people from all walks of life.
