I recently made a post in the intersex category too. I got hormones tested after suspecting hormonal abnormality and asking for so long. And I just got the results. The estrogen was in a normal female range according to my results sheet and the internet. And far higher than the normal male range. While looking at the test results earlier todau my mom pointed to this range for averages on the result paper for estrogen and said look its normal but than I pointed to where it said "adult female" and got really angry. She said angrily and sarcasticaly "fine your a woman". Now she won't talk to me. I am not really sure what I should do. There are other intersex issues I am suspecting too but now I am mostly worried about my hormones. Anyways I am 13 years old and always felt like a girl even though I am a "boy", so I'm transgender. My parents definitely Do Not support me. My dad acts like I am trying to be like that image of a cross-dressing man from 1980 movies and my mom thinks I am was neglected when I was a baby by my dad and once took me to a psycologyst for this. I really really really want to socially transition as soon as possible and I have been begging my parents for so long and I am very sad all the time.
What should I do now!!!!!!!?!!!!!
There's probably not a lot you can do if you are a minor and your parents are unsupportive. On the plus side, if your estrogen hormones are high you may not end up with a lot of testosterone masculinisation. On the down side, if you are going to be presenting as "male" and you start growing breasts because of your E levels that will make things very difficult at school I would imagine. The best thing initially is to try and find someone who can reason with your parents and help them understand what intersex and transgender is really all about.
First, please pick a thread and stay with it. It's far easer for an old person like me to keep up with you. ;D
You were born the way you are but because of your age, most likely the only hormone treatment you might receive would be blockers. Estrogen would have to wait until your older. Under the best conditions, you might be allowed to move into the feminine role in day to day life. This will depend on receiving the correct therapy and a knowledgable Endo. The big problem will be your parents and you will need to educate them. I am providing a link which is something I wrote that might help. Other than that, your parents may join the site and post in the Significant Others section asking question and learning about your condition. The SO section offers them special protection as attacks on them are not permitted and they are permitted to be upset without the normal restrictions we place on regular members.
Unfortunately, if you parents chose to ignore this and you don't have assistance through school, there will be very little you can do until you turn 18. You will need to resist any attempts to give you testosterone because it will make you feel far worst than you do now.
