Title: Anyone have experience of starting HRT overseas and then returning to the UK?
Post by: Debbie on July 13, 2016, 04:24:24 AM
Does anyone have any experience of commencing HRT overseas (under proper medical-supervision, not self-medication) and then returning to the UK? There is a likelihood that I will be returning to the UK to live at the start of next year, by which time I will have been on HRT for about 9 months (I am currently just past the three-month mark). If I visit my local GP, is it likely that he/she would not immediately give me prescriptions for the hormones I have been taking and demand that I begin the process from scratch? I will have reams of paperwork showing a time-history of my dosages, their effects etc., from the international clinic I am currently visiting, but am not sure that they would accept this. Naturally, I would bring several months' supplies with me as a buffer.

I am rather worried because I know there is often a lengthy period before being diagnosed (for want of a better expression) as being transgendered and being prescribed hormones. I don't want to have to be "re-diagnosed", and have the reset button pressed on my transition. Is there anything I could do in the meantime?

Thanks for taking the time to read this. Any suggestions or comments would be welcome.
