My wife took me shopping for clothes today. I'm not planning to dress outside the house any time soon, so I wasn't looking for anything fashionable. Just something fun and comfortable to wear around the house.
I got some girl-cut T-shirts, long and short sleeved. a purple top with frills, a skirt and some capri pants. And some underwear. I didn't get a bra this time. Maybe next time.
I used to cross-dress 20 years ago, so none of this is totally new to me. But this is the first time I have done it openly, with someone along whom I could ask, "How will this look on me?"
Actually, I might wear something to the next support group meeting, just so I don't have to go in boy clothes, even if it is only a T-shirt and jeans.
Yay! It is starting to feel like it is okay to be me! :) And, yes, my wife is the best!
That's so wonderful! It's really great to have a supportive partner, I don;t know where I'd be without her, myself.
That sounds like so much fun. Can't imagine doing it with my wife .. but who knows
I love to shop with my wife. It is so much fun. We both look for clothes for ourselves and each other. It is a fun game for us that both of us truly enjoy. It makes for very quality time together that makes us closer as a couple.
Hi Kathy,
That is awesome. I know how long you have hoped to get to this point. Congratulations! My wife and I enjoy shopping together. We also can swap out clothes when something fits the other better. What fun! As soon as my ID changes, I will actually be able to pay for the clothes more easily myself.
Moni
We were shopping today, too. As we were walking through the store, I said to Dee, that's a cute top and she agreed. Then she grinned at me and said, "This is fun putting together a new wardrobe for you."
Myself and my wife have the same conversations when shopping! To me it is very liberating to know I am comfortable shopping in a woman's clothes store. There is also a type of sensory overload for me. There are so many more choices in colors, and styles and fabrics. There is no comparison between shopping for women's and men's clothes. It is a joy for me to shop in a woman's store, and still just a necessity to buy men's clothes. I also bond with my wife as we shop making it even better.
I do the same thing. I lounge in Yoga pants and camis. Wife and I buy them together, it's helped her get more comfortable with my identity and future transition
Awesome, congrats! I bet that felt great and glad you had your wife along as a shopping partner.
I've been shopping for male clothes on my own. Would be great to have a second opinion but also, no partner. :)
me and the wife have been shopping together only once. It was fun, but I was nervous with people staring at me the whole time. Congrats though. Enjoy!
Shopping with my wife was a different experience She is very helpful with finding and evaluating things, but I nearly jumped out of my skin the first few dozen times she yelled across the store, "You wear a size 14 skirt, right?" It did a lot to desensitize me.
Bra fitting would be appropriate and much fun. Shop together. Good girl
Today, she took me to get my ears pierced. Ouch!
I can't believe how much better I look with even just the piercing studs in my ears. Wow!
I'm going to have some 'splaining to do at the weekly community coffee group. :o I might not tell them the whole truth just yet. :) But I know I'll feel good at the next trans peer support group.
Are you sharing bras and panties?
Sharing bras - yes. Panties I am a size or two smaller, so no.
And I could not agree more - shopping with my wife is fun. I have also been lucky that she had a good stack of clothes not fitting her which are a perfect fit for me... Just got lucky this evening and now have 3 swimsuits... Just came out of the pool :-)
I can and have worn her panties. They are about one size too big. Bras-no. Hers are too small. We usually shop at Cato. Great selection and a lot of items in the clearance rack. We went to Goodwill the other day. I got three really nice dresses for $5 each. Hard to beat that!
