Title: Denial of HRT
Post by: supergirl23 on July 18, 2016, 04:16:53 AM
So I'm starting to get worried that I will be denied HRT for some medical reason. How common is it to be denied HRT?

It does happen but I don't think it's super common. Just relax and wait and see what the endo/doc says first. In some cases HRT is withheld or reduced until some issues are dealt with (for example weight loss) but I don't know any specifics that may apply to you.

I don't sleep very well, could that affect my HRT?

The first endo I went to turned me down but the reasons she gave, including my age, were invalid.  And a friend of mine who is a nurse said that endo was cherry picking easy to manage cases...young trans people.  The second endo I went to has worked with over 4000 transgender people and he said he saw no reason I shouldn't start HRT.  So it does happen but I don't see why sleep patterns would have anything to do with it.

I wouldn't think so, but that is something you would have to ask the doctor. If it helps part of me was concerned the doctor would deny me HRT due to my kidney's, but in the end I had nothing to worry about. The doctor prescribed without a second thought. I'm sure most likely that you will find that you have nothing to worry about. Hugs

It's the doctor's preference on treatment. If they do not feel comfortable with prescribing them to you then they won't. Not to say that a different doctor might. It's in the hypocratic oath... first do not harm. To compound the issue... lawsuits are a guaranteed deterrent from writing an Rx that compounds health risks.  Just depends on the doctor and what risks they will accept.

Highly unlikely, unless your insomnia is linked to high blood pressure.
