I have a classic hourglass figure - which for pants means wide hips and smaller waist and thighs. The thighs are the problem area. I'm trying to go for a little more mature look, which means some nice chinos or slacks. Trouble is by the time the pants fit in the hips, the thighs and butt are super saggy. Basically it always looks like I'm sagging my pants, which is not the look I'm going for (that's a boy's look). Any advice on what to do or how to fix this?
Something like 'relaxed fit' Dockers might get you there. The 'relaxed fit' line is aimed at older workers living in their swivel chairs, and they tend to be wider in the seat. The pleating keeps the thighs looking not too bad. They will be built for a wider waist, too, though.
I used to wear these, with 40" hips and a 32" waist. I got better. :)

Have you looked into any slim fit pants? That could help with chinos, although I don't think they categorize dress pants like that. I'm pretty curvy as well but I usually have the opposite problem, there's never enough room for my butt.
Also, Katja - it may not be the classiest look, but I personally sag my pants because it helps to conceal my hips. I can't speak for cis guys, though.

What is really funny is the people that look like that and they have no clue where it originated from.
They do make men's slim fit dress pants, but you are going to have to shop around a bit. Places like Macy's, Bloomingdale's, Nordstrom carry them. You probably aren't going to find any at lower end stores except maybe last years style places like Nordstrom Rack, Marshall's, TJ Maxx, etc...

The problem I'm having with slim fit is that they assume your hips are slim as well - so while the pants fit in the leg, they're too tight across my hips and have a nasty whiskering pattern that draws attention to my hips and crotch. I basically need something that's like a slim fit through the leg and rear, but like a relaxed fit across the hips.
The boys section in H&M is my go to for trousers (and I've heard good things about the men's, if you're tall enough). They tend to be roomier in the general hip/bum area than any others I've tried, though that might not help with the sagging. They do different styles - slim fit is amongst them. And some of them do look quite classy.
Fwiw, I think an element of sagging is acceptable even if you're aiming for mature. I've seen plenty of businessmen with saggy bums and never thought it looked off. Not that I'm looking >.> anyway, best of luck!

You may try stretchable jeans, which you can find in Wal-mart stores.
In my case, I prefer short pants and skirts to avoid that kind of problem.

I didn't think they made stretch pants for guys - I was always under the impression that stretchy pants were more a women's thing. And women's pants definitely highlight my figure in a way that screams "female hips under here"!
In any case I'm really trying to avoid jeans in favor of chinos or slacks - just trying to go for a little more mature look to counteract how young I look.
I have very wide hips, I get straight leg jeans from H&M. I do have to belt the waist pretty tight to get them to stay up, but there's enough room for everything.

I don't know if this would help at all or just add to the problem, but you might try just getting slim fit pants with a bigger waist size than you might normally wear and just wearing a belt.
It's mostly the rear and thighs that are the issue. I can belt the waist, but there's not a whole lot I can do about the fact that the pants are twice the size of my legs.

Yes. Stretchable jeans are for ladies, but men can wear them, too. They are very comfortable.

I purchased these stretchable jeans at wal-mart about 12 years ago. It was US ladies' size 4. You still can see similar jeans there.

I'm really not much of a jeans kind of guy - I would like to wear slacks or chinos or some other dressier pant, rather than jeans. I have plenty of women's jeans and they make me look, well, like a woman. Real obvious that there's female hips under there.
