Title: Being trans is really hard, but...
Post by: JessicaSondelli on July 23, 2016, 10:08:43 AM
pretending not to be trans (for decades) is even harder... I just realized this after 4+ months on HRT..

Just my 2 cents for today...

Wow.  Thanks, Jessica.  This is absolutely dead on.  Decades of debilitating internal conflict led to nasty dark depression.  Life, and living is so much easier once we can admit what we are and accept ourselves.

Living with dysphoria is hell so there is only one direction from there and that is up.

Foreal. And I couldn't even tell just how wrong everything felt until I had something to compare it to. Now I get these periodic episodes where some aspect of my physical transition just feels so incredibly right; I didn't have any idea being alive could feel like that! I'm kind of surprised I made it as long as I did with absolutely no desire to live, tbh.

Oh ya!  It was not until I accepted myself as transgender and gave up the "man act" that I was able to feel the weight lift.  I spent decades of trying to fit an image I never felt and near constant but routine "manning up" and corrections of the femininity i did feel.  Transition helped me to clearly see and viscerally feel the burden gone and the relief was palpable.  Our gender identity need not be contained in one of two little boxes!

Thank you so much for this post!  As a girl who is trying to gather the gumption to do anything past thinking about how much a girl I feel like, it means a lot.  Knowing that I'd be getting rid of pressure instead of just adding more is very galvanizing.

I have said similar to this in a couple posts but think it is worth repeating...Since starting HRT I now get to experience the world like everybody else does and it is quite surprising how nice it is without all the Dysphoria. ;D

It happened to me when I was 24 years old and was out of the closet on it finally. It was a huge weight off of my back finally too.Regrets,I have none when I started my transition and even when I decided not to have the GRS when I was 28.Revealing the new me part after my transition was going to my 10 year high school reunion in 2007,my classmates were shocked at first seeing I changed big time.I was thinking I was going to be rejected and was not. They learned to the adjustments and called me Nicole right away.

But pretending not to be trans is a subset of being trans...
