Title: Natural Hormone Change
Post by: alisontaylor on October 25, 2007, 03:29:04 PM
I have been playing around with the transgender issue for about 10 years and had a change of circumstances this year which allowed me to go full time this past summer (never previously for more than a week). No trouble passing so far. My real hair is below shoulders and I am only 140 lbs so I expected that.

However, I have noticed over the past few years and especially this year I have become a lot more emotional. Cry easily at movies or even thinking about emotional things. Also noticed that whereas my brothers (I have three, including ones 6 and 11 years younger) have male pattern baldness I have almost none.

I have not started HRT so my question is whether just living as a woman can raise estrogen or lower testosterone levels. It sure seems like it in my case. What do you think?

Self perception plays a big role in mood and self-esteem.

I'm not sure thought can influence our hormone levels, I don't see why not.

The emotional stuff could be because the barriers you needed to live as a guy are slowly eroding as you get used to living as a woman.

Perhaps you have always had elevated levels of estrogen and now that your testosterone is waning as you age the estrogen it is taking on more significance?

Hi Alison,
I am IS so it may be different than it is for a TS. As an IS I actually do produce more estrogen than I do androgen. However, one mystery I always had until I realized what I really am was these weird pains around my breast area. What my doc figs is that my mind and my estrogen got into a battle - my estrogen was trying to grow my breasts naturally and yet my mind (for various reasons, most majorly my being raped by an uncle) tried to force them to remain the little pimples they were. Now though my mind has let go of all control over my true female self and they blomed like crazy and still growing- just slow going. I am edging from B to a C cup. Mind you the amazing part is the length of time they have been growing, but it is nature, and the pain can be intense but heck it is growing pains so..... Good luck,
                                             Kim

That's amazing. Thanks very much. So just take off the brakes and it sometimes takes off.

Hi Alison
I have little doubt that the mind can cause hormone change. I have been listening to hypnosis feminisation tapes, and I most certainly have breast growth to prove it along with very reduced body hair growth !  The mind is a very powerful thing, and where you mind and emotions go, your body often follows.
