Title: My FFS and need advise for more
Post by: Riya88 on July 31, 2016, 06:09:02 PM
Hello

I am new to Susan's and need some advice regarding FFS procedures that I think will my facial feminization.

I had my first round of FFS which included Type 3 forehead reconstruction. although I am extremely pleased with the work and passing, I still feel like there is more room for improvement to look more attractive, softer and feminine.

Welcome to Susan's Place. I am not an expert on FFS so my opinion is worth about what you are paying for it but you appear to have one of the classical feminine facial shapes with a heart shaped face. You already appear very feminine though I could be missing something because all of your pictures were shot from above and a bit distorted by the lens that was used. My opinion is that you don't need additional surgery and are already very attractive.

I agree with Dena, and you look 100% female to me in those pictures.

You really do pass 100% in those photos. Being obsessed with flaws can be troubling. I personally don't see any reason to go for more surgery. But it all comes down to what you want, as you know best after all.

Hi,

You look 100% feminine and beautiful. I think that you don't need any more facial surgeries. It is time for you to love your face as it is because it is already beautiful.

It is a difficult question because I also feel the need to get some FFS, yet I pass most of the time, and my boyfriend is 100% against me having any, he says I don't need it.
Yet like you, I look in the mirror and see imperfection imperfection imperfection.
I have an obsessive personality and tend to focus on the small details and get obsessed with them.
I too have to have my hair a certain way to hide what I don't like about my face, when all I want to do is tie it back and not worry about how I look.
I understand you 100%

You look very pretty and passable in your photos, I'm looking specifically at the last set of pics.
But really as Dena says, you need to take a pic with a better camera, with a lens that doesn't distort the image so much, and from a face-on angle and not from above. Then it would be easier to give an honest opinion.
But at the end of the day, it's your face, and you need to do what you need to do.

so, imperfections are what make an individual special.

Use the same level of critical analysis with cis women, you will find that most are not "perfect", at least not "perfect" based upon some absurd societal norm.

not to be doom and gloom but have you considered the consequences if something goes wrong and weighed them up against these surgeries?
you had facial surgery already and it was successful for you, you took that risk and it worked in your favour.
you say yourself that you pass now so this second round is for aesthetics.
what if something goes wrong? you are soo young and have a massive future in front of you the last thing that you would want is to come away from this second round in worse shape. it will just completely mess with your self esteem and mental health. and you can already post pics up here so your self esteem is at least half ok.
your choices are yours alone, sometimes they aren't even choices but a necessity to feel right about yourself but just consider the consequences as well if things don't go to plan. the least amount a surgeon has to manipulate you the safer you will be.
just think hard about desire vs need vs risk

HI Riya,

I've did two 11.5 hour procedures with Dr D-B and Dr O in 2015.... He is indeed highly skilled and a wonderful guy to deal with!!! (I did a Yelp review on him under "Ashley C" that lists all the procedures he performed)...

But honestly!!!...you are already in the promised land!!!!..... it is easy to look in the mirror and see what you see as being wrong or still male in appearance but believe me...no one else does!!! You are gorgeous and you do NOT need a skull reassembly!!!!! Save your money for stuff you do need and get out there and live life!!!!

Take Care,

Ashley :)

Hi Riya!

I also wanted to mention that the more incisions inside the hairline the more issues you may have along the incision lines with hair regrowth... I have had two coronal incisions... I'm not sure where they would place them if you did re-shaping but this is something to keep in mind.

Take Care,

Ashley :)

Read your post on Yelp.  Wow!  Two 11.5 hour surgeries.   If you do not mind,  how much time between the FFS surgery and the later face lift surgery?

You mentioned that you had a nearly pain free recovery?   Did you ever need narcotic type pain meds or just over the counter stuff ?

Hi 1of 2!!!

I had the first facial procedure in January 2015... GRS with Bowers four months later in May and the second facial procedure in November 2015... I wanted to get it all knocked out in a year and ... I did!!! :-)

I didn't take any of the prescription pain meds after getting out of the hospital either time... I took probably less than 10 Motrins total post op between the two facial surgeries.. The pain just wasn't that bad!!!... You do have large numb areas afterwards that eventually get better but maybe all the numbness helps with pain management... I would say that after the first procedure especially... There are high levels of discomfort... I HATE NOSE PACKING!!! But I didn't find it that painful... Just uncomfortable!!!

BTW.. I posted my before/after pics in the TS section in the Before/After thread... Starting at post reply #108

Take Care,

Ashley :)

Hi.  I will not comment on your appearance.  I will say that I share the same concerns as you about forehead reconstruction and mandible work not being the complete answer for those of us with very wide heads.  You say you want to look more feminine.  Do you feel you would not pass if you didn't keep your hair just right?  I agree being able to pass with tied back hair (which is how the vast majority of young women wear their hair when they are not trying to show off) is a really kind of gold standard of passing.  Because all the borders of your face are prominently represented.  I  agree that strong cheek bones can be a passing issue.

I concur. You look lovely right now Riya. I do wonder if facial work after a certain point can get a little obsessive? x
