Four years ago, an article by Tobias Barrington Wolff was published in the Harvard Law& Policy Review entitled Civil Rights Reform and the Body. In many ways he was prescient, predicting that transgender people and bathrooms would become the central fight in the LGBT movement. Wolff points out in his article that unlike the right's strategy during the Civil Rights Movement, it is possible to erase LGBT people from our culture by four basic methods: convert, cure, closet, or kill them. These four observed strategies were used for decades against lesbian, gay, and bisexual people, and Wolff suggested similar strategies would be used by the religious right against transgender people in the next great social debate.
From what I can see, this strategy is now part of the Republican Party platform as well.
I think you are right. But while at this point they still do wield a lot of power, they are making themselves so odious to good people that they will lose. It is true that most people do not understand us, but good people will side with the underdog in the face of a tyrannical lying bully.
Not just Muslims but the entire human race. Islamic countries do not, I repeat do not sit around discussing killing Christians. As in America only the zealots take this position. Your vote for Trump is misguided because along with Trump we may get a stacked Congress and SCOTUS, and you will have to live in the closet or risk losing your lie. That means in America you have as many people hating you as any other place on earth.
In one of my jobs I was in a country as an observer for the US Gov't where primarily Christians were killing primarily Muslims. Because of some specific conditions we had to have a plan for if things went bad and we couldn't get out of the country. We all agreed that our safest course would be to flee to the mountains and take sanctuary with the primarily Muslim group (the ones known as terrorists) until help from the military could arrive. Fortunately we never had to do that.
To categorize all Muslims as evil and all Christians as sainted is to take a very naive and wrongheaded view of reality. It is simply not as things actually are.
As these groups and ideologies lose power and favor in society, their views will actually become more extreme. Be of good cheer though, because that means they are losing the hearts and minds of people.
I agree with your point..a positive thought
