Title: Any Professional Pilots?
Post by: Androol on August 02, 2016, 12:08:26 PM
Hello,

I am wondering if there are any guys or gals on here who are professional pilots and have dealt with transitioning while at work. If so, how was your experience with the FAA (or whatever aviation authority you deal with) when it comes to your medical certification? Are the aviation authorities pretty accepting? What kind, if any, special testing is required? I would assume some regular blood work because of the hormones, but not sure.

Thank you!

Just as a follow up in case anyone is interested. At least the FAA in the United States has some experience with this. They have a defined procedure for changing the gender listed on your license. You must present to an FAA inspector either a court order for a gender change, or a statement from a physician or clinical psychologist who is treating you.

Good to know it is not too complex a procedure.
